List of United States Air Force missile squadrons

This article lists the missile squadrons of the United States Air Force. There are nine missile squadrons currently active in the United States (listed in bold type); all nine are equipped to operate intercontinental ballistic missiles.

823rd Tactical Missile Squadron US Air Force unit

The 823rd Tactical Missile Squadron is an inactive United States Air Force unit. Its last assignment was with the 38th Tactical Missile Wing at Sembach Air Base, Germany, where it was inactivated on 25 September 1966, as the A model of the MGM-13 Mace was phased out of operation.

865th Bombardment Squadron Military unit

The 865th Technical Training Squadron is an inactive United States Air Force unit. Its last assignment was with the 1st Missile Division at Redstone Arsenal. Alabama, where it trained Italian Air Force personnel on the SM-78 Jupiter. It was inactivated on 1 November 1959.

42nd Tactical Missile Squadron Military unit

The 42d Tactical Missile Squadron is an inactive United States Air Force unit, formed in 1985 by the consolidation of two units. The first is the 2d Search Attack Squadron, which tested antisubmarine warfare tactics and equipment at Langley Field, Virginia during World War II. The second is the 942d Forward Air Control Squadron, which was activated following the Korean War, but does not appear to have been equipped or manned. The consolidated squadron has not been active.

850th Strategic Missile Squadron Military unit

The 850th Strategic Missile Squadron is an inactive United States Air Force unit. It was last assigned to the 44th Strategic Missile Wing at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, where it was inactivated on 25 March 1965. The squadron was first activated in 1943 as the 850th Bombardment Squadron. After training in the United States, it deployed to the European Theater of Operations and participated in the strategic bombing campaign against Germany. Following V-E Day, the squadron returned to the United States, where it was inactivated in November 1945.

Washington Air Defense Sector Military unit

The Washington Air Defense Sector (WaADS) is an inactive United States Air Force organization. Its last assignment was with the Air Defense Command (ADC) 26th Air Division, being stationed at Fort Lee Air Force Station (AFS), Virginia. It was inactivated on 1 April 1966.

4722d Air Defense Group Military unit

The 4722d Air Defense Group is a discontinued United States Air Force organization. Its last assignment was with the 27th Air Division at George Air Force Base, California, where it was discontinued in 1958.

Oklahoma City Air Defense Sector Military unit

The Oklahoma City Air Defense Sector (OCADS) is an inactive United States Air Force organization. Its last assignment was with the Air Defense Command's 29th Air Division at Oklahoma City Air Force Station, Oklahoma.

488th Tactical Missile Wing Military unit

The 488th Tactical Missile Wing is an inactive United States Air Force unit. It was formed by the consolidation of the 488th Bombardment Group and the 588th Tactical Missile Group in 1985, but has not been active since consolidation.

The 415th Bombardment Group is an inactive United States Air Force unit that served primarily as a training and demonstration unit. It was last part of Second Air Force, at Dalhart Army Air Field, Texas, where it was disbanded on 5 April 1944. In July 1985, the group was reconstituted as the 415th Tactical Missile Wing, but has not been active as a missile unit.

848th Strategic Missile Squadron Military unit

The 848th Strategic Missile Squadron is an inactive United States Air Force unit. It was last assigned to the 703d Strategic Missile Wing at Lowry Air Force Base, Colorado, where it was inactivated on 1 July 1961. The squadron was first activated in 1943 as the 848th Bombardment Squadron during World War II. After training in the United States, it deployed to the European Theater of Operations and participated in the strategic bombing campaign against Germany. The squadron was inactivated as part of the phaseout of the Titan I ICBM on 25 March 1965.

569th Strategic Missile Squadron Military unit

The 569th Strategic Missile Squadron is an inactive United States Air Force unit. It was last assigned to the 9th Strategic Aerospace Wing at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho. It was equipped with the first-generation SM-68 Titan I intercontinental ballistic missile, with a mission of nuclear deterrence. The 1st Tactical Missile Squadron is an inactive United States Air Force unit. It was last assigned to the 585th Tactical Missile Group at Bitburg Air Base, West Germany, where it was inactivated on 18 June 1958.
