The People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China has had many divisions since it was officially established in 1949. However, a growing number of land and air combat divisions have been disbanded in favour of brigades, a process largely completed by the time the 2015 PLA reforms were implemented around 2017.

Saw action at a later date (?) [45] In the early 1980s it was subordinate to the Tangshan Command Post in the Beijing MR flying J-5s (MiG-17F "Fresco-Cs"?) and Shenyang J-6s. [46] On 26 October 1988 the division was reorganized into the Beijing MR Training Base.

The Jinan Military Region was a PLA Military Region located in the east of the People's Republic of China, covering the Shandong and Henan Provinces, which also formed military districts. It appears that Yang Dezhi was one of the first commander of the Jinan MR, from 1958. It was considered a strategic reserve. It included some of the area previously within the Wuhan Military Region, which was disbanded in 1985–88.

The Shenyang Military Region was one of seven military regions for the Chinese People's Liberation Army. It has command and control of military and armed police forces in the three northeast provinces of Jilin, Heilongjiang, and Liaoning, which also form Military Districts. This region is now superseded by the Northern Theater Command.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Lanzhou Military Region</span> Former military region of China

The Lanzhou Military Region was one of seven military regions in the People's Republic of China. It directed all People's Liberation Army and People's Armed Police forces in Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi, and Ngari Prefecture in northwest Tibet. It was headquartered in Lanzhou in Gansu Province. It is bordered to the south by the Chengdu Military Region, and to the north by Mongolia, the Altai Republic, which is a political subdivision of the Russian Federation, and Kazakhstan. This region is now part of the Western Theater Command due to the military reforms of 2015.

The 235th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, formerly the 79th Division, is a military formation of the People's Liberation Army Ground Force. It's now a maneuvering brigade of the PLA 71st Group Army.

The 20th Group Army is a military formation of the People's Liberation Army Ground Force, stationed in the Jinan Military Region. It consists of two manoeuvre brigades with other attached or otherwise organic units. For some time after its formation in 1949, the army consisted of three divisions.

The 112th Mechanized Infantry Division is a military formation of the People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China. The 112th Division was created in November 1948 under the Regulation of the Redesignations of All Organizations and Units of the Army, issued by Central Military Commission on November 1, 1948, basing on the 1st Division, 1st Column of the Northeastern Field Army. Its history can be traced to 5th Corps of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army taking part in the Pingjiang uprising in 1928.

The 113th Mechanized Infantry Division, now the 113th Medium Combined Arms Brigade, is a military formation of the People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China.

The 196th Light Combined Arms Brigade is a military formation of the People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China. It is one of the "showcase" units of the PLA ground force.

The 58th Medium Combined Arms Brigade is a brigade of the People's Liberation Army Ground Force. It is one of the six combined arms brigades of the 83rd Group Army under the Central Theater Command. The 58th was previously a division, being converted to a brigade-sized formation in 1998.

The 1st Armored Brigade is an Armored formation of People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China. The brigade now serves as the armored element under the 65th Army in the Beijing Military Region.

The 83rd Group Army, Unit 31679, formerly the 54th Group Army, is a military formation of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Ground Forces (PLAGF). The 83rd Group Army is one of thirteen total group armies of the PLAGF, the largest echelon of ground forces in the People's Republic of China, and one of three assigned to the nation's Central Theater Command.

The 1st Amphibious Combined Arms Brigade, formerly the 1st Amphibious Mechanized Infantry Division, is a military formation of the People's Liberation Army Ground Force of the People's Republic of China.

The 190th Heavy Combined Arms Brigade is a military formation of the People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China. It is famous for being the first mechanized PLA division.

The 2nd Heavy Combined Arms Brigade, originally the 2nd Tank Division, the 2nd Armored Division and the 2nd Armored Brigade, is an armored formation of the People's Liberation Army Ground Force of the People's Republic of China.

The 130th Army Division, now the 160th Heavy Combined Arms Brigade was a military formation of the People's Liberation Army Ground Force of the People's Republic of China. It is the only PLA division that took part in all three major wars of PLA after 1949.

The 55th Light Combined Arms Brigade, formerly the 55th Division, is a military formation of the People's Liberation Army Ground Force of the People's Republic of China. It is now one of six combined arms brigades of the PLA 77th Group Army.

The 11th Corps was a military formation of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. It was active from 1949 to 1952, with a six month break; and from 1969 to the end of 1985. It is currently inactive. In 1979 the corps took part in the Sino-Vietnamese War. In 1984 it again fought in Vietnam. It was stationed in the Kunming Military Region.

The 63rd Group Army, former 63rd Corps and 63rd Army Corps, was a military formation of China's People's Liberation Army existed from 1949 to 2003.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">14th Army (People's Republic of China)</span> Chinese military unit

The 14th Army was an army level formation of the People's Liberation Army.

The 24th Army was a military formation of the People's Liberation Army. It was established in February 1949 and finally disbanded circa 2000–2003.
