The Andaman and Nicobar Islands is a union territory of India comprising 572 islands, of which only 38 are inhabited. The islands are grouped into two main clusters: the northern Andaman Islands and the southern Nicobar Islands, separated by a 150 km (93 mi) wide channel. The capital and largest city of the territory, Port Blair, is located approximately 1,190 km (740 mi) from Chennai and 1,255 km (780 mi) from Kolkata in mainland India. The islands are situated between the Bay of Bengal to the west and the Andaman Sea to the east. The northernmost point is 901 km (560 mi) from the mouth of the Hooghly River. Indira Point, located at 6°45'10″N and 93°49'36″E on the southern tip of Great Nicobar, is the southernmost point of India.
The Cellular Jail, also known as 'Kāal - Pani'. KAAL meaning time, i.e. once a prisoner goes there, he doesn't come back to the mainland and PANI mean water, as it is surrounded by water, but over the years it is now terms as KALA PAANI, was a British colonial prison in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The prison was used by the colonial government of India for the purpose of exiling criminals and political prisoners. Many notable independence activists were imprisoned there during the struggle for India's independence. Today, the complex serves as a national memorial monument.
Lieutenant General Ranjit Singh Dyal, PVSM, MVC was an Indian Army general and an administrator. As a soldier, Ranjit Singh led the capture of the Haji Pir pass by the Indian army during the 1965 war with Pakistan. He also drew up the plans for Operation Blue Star, and served as the General-Officer-Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command. Later, he served as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Lt. Gen. Bhopinder Singh is the former Lieutenant Governor of The Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Pondicherry and an Indian Army officer who has been awarded the PVSM. He was the former military secretary to president K. R. Narayanan and to President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. He was the former military, naval and air attaché for East and Southern Africa headquartered at Addis Ababa.

Sainik School Rewa is one of the 33 Sainik Schools of India. It is a purely residential school. The medium of instruction is English. Established by Government of India on 20 July 1962 at the sprawling estate known as Yuvraj Bhawan which belonged to Maharaja Martand Singh Judeo, Yuvraj of former Princely state of Rewa, the school prepares boys to join the indian armed forces. The school has contributed about 950 officers. It is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education and is a member of Indian Public Schools Conference (IPSC).

Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM is the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Vice Chairman of Islands Development Agency (IDA). He was an Admiral in the Indian Navy and served as the 21st Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, having assumed office on 31 August 2012. He is a specialist in anti-submarine warfare. He resigned on 26 February 2014, taking responsibility for a series of accidents, thus becoming the first Indian Navy Chief to resign.

Tirath Singh Oberoi was Lieutenant general in Indian Army who later on served as the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar. He was commissioned in the army in 1946 after graduating from the Defence Services Staff College, Tamil Nadu. He served in during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947–1948 as Captain in Punjab Regiment and was presented with Vir Chakra for his services during the Republic Day ceremony of 1950. He was promoted as Lieutenant Colonel in 1964.
