Loureedia is a genus of velvet spiders that was first described by J. A. Miller in 2012. [2] As of July 2020, it contained four species: L. annulipes , L. colleni, L. lucasi and L. phoenixi. [1] This genus of velvet spiders that live underground are named after Lou Reed, guitarist and singer for the Velvet Underground. In 2020, researchers discovered the fourth species, L. phoenixi , in Iran. [3]

L. annulipes was formerly considered a member of Eresus .

Loureedia phoenixi is a species of spider discovered in Iran in the year 2020. The species is categorized as a velvet spider. The spider is described as reclusive. It is named after the actor Joaquin Phoenix, for a color pattern which matches the movie character Joker from D.C. Comics. The Loureedia phoenixi is the first of its genus to be found not in the Mediterranean, which is over 1500 kilometers away from the rest of the genus.

Sestakovaia is a small genus of liocranid sac spiders first described by Alireza Zamani and Yuri M. Marusik in 2021. As of December 2021 it contains only two species: S. annulipes and S. hyrcania. This genus is named after the Slovakian arachnologist Anna Šestáková.

Yuri Mikhailovitch Marusik is a Russian arachnologist.
