Macrospora is a genus of fungi in the family Pleosporaceae. [1] This is a monotypic genus, containing the single species Macrospora scirpicola.
Sclerophthora macrospora is a protist plant pathogen of the class Oomycota. It causes downy mildew on a vast number of cereal crops including oats, rice, maize, and wheat as well as varieties of turf grass. The common names of the diseases associated with Sclerophthora macrospora include “crazy top disease” on maize and yellow tuft disease on turf grass. The disease is present all over the world, but it is especially persistent in Europe.
The Hymenogastraceae is a family of fungi in the order Agaricales with both agaric and false-truffle shaped fruitbodies. Formerly, prior to molecular analyses, the family was restricted to the false-truffle genera. The mushroom genus Psilocybe in the Hymenogastraceae is now restricted to the hallucinogenic species while nonhallucinogenic former species are largely in the genus Deconica classified in the Strophariaceae.
Allophylaria is a genus of fungi in the family Helotiaceae. As of February 2015, the nomenclatural database Index Fungorum lists 14 species in the genus.
Bertiella is a genus of fungi in the family Teichosporaceae. although Wijayawardene et al. 2020 places it within the Melanommataceae family.
Roussoellopsis is a genus of fungi in the class Dothideomycetes and order Pleosporales, and family Roussoellaceae.
Clathrospora is a genus of fungi in the family Diademaceae. The widespread genus contained five species in 2008, the genus increased to 20 species by 2023.
Eriosphaeria is a genus of fungi in the family Trichosphaeriaceae. Species in this genus are plant pathogens.
Miyoshiella is a genus of fungi in the family Chaetosphaeriaceae.
Grammothelopsis is a fungal genus in the family Polyporaceae. It was circumscribed in 1982 by Swiss mycologist Walter Jülich, with Grammothelopsis macrospora as the type species.
Zopfiella is a genus of fungi within the Lasiosphaeriaceae family.
Limacinula is a genus of fungi within the Coccodiniaceae family. The genus was first named by Franz Xaver Rudolf von Höhnel in 1907.
Wakefieldia is a genus of two species of fungi, generally thought to belong in the family Boletaceae, but recent molecular study has shown that Wakefieldia macrospora is in fact not related to Boletales and belongs to family Hymenogastraceae.
Amanita australis is a species of fungus in the family Amanitaceae. It is found only in New Zealand, where it occurs in Leptospermum and Nothofagus forest. The species was first described by New Zealand mycologist Greta Stevenson in 1962; in the same publication Stevenson also described what she thought was a unique species, Limacella macrospora, but over 30 years later this was reduced to synonymy with A. australis.
Fischerula is a genus of two truffle-like fungi in the family Morchellaceae. First described from central Italy by Oreste Mattirolo in 1928, the genus name honors Swiss mycologist Eduard Fischer. The type species Fischerula macrospora is known only from Italy, while Fischerula subcaulis is found in coniferous and mixed forests of Oregon and Washington.
The Gigaductidae are a family of parasites in the phylum Apicomplexa. Species in this family infect Coleoptera (beetles) and Orthoptera (grasshoppers).
Bertia is a genus of fungi within the Bertiaceae family, and Hypocreomycetidae subclass.
Gigaductus is a genus of parasites in the phylum Apicomplexa.
Lipotropha is a genus of parasitic alveolates of the phylum Apicomplexa.
Cercidospora macrospora is a species of lichenicolous fungus in the genus Cercidospora but it has not been assigned to a family. It is known from the northern hemisphere.
Reichlingia zwackhii is a species of corticolous (bark-dwelling) lichen in the family Arthoniaceae. It was first formally described by German lichenologist Johann Heinrich Sandstede in 1903, as a member of genus Arthonia. Andreas Frisch and Göran Thor transferred it to the genus Reichlingia in 2013. The lichen occurs in temperate regions of Europe. Peter Wilfred James proposed the variety Arthonia zwackhii var. macrospora in 1978, on the basis of specimens collected from Britain that had consistently larger ascospores and different lichen products. This taxon is now known as a distinct species, Synarthonia astroidestera.
