Angamali Diocese is the largest of the 12 dioceses of Syrian Orthodox Church in Kerala. Angamali Diocese was formed in the historic synod of Mulanthuruthy in 1876 and has been the major center of Jacobites through the ages. [1] Metropolitan of the Diocese is HB Baselios Thomas I Catholicose. [2]
Angamali Diocese is divided into five regions for administrative purposes under different Bishops. [3]

This region is called the Stronghold of Jacobites with 48 churches and most of them big parishes, including Martha Mariyam Cathedral Kothamangalam (Valiyapally) established in AD 456, Mar Thoma Cheriayapally Kothmangalam (tomb of St Baselious Yeldho), Chelad Bes Aniya Valiyapally, Kottapady Kalkunnel church, and Kottapady Nagancherry church.

This is the largest region in terms of area as it covers regions of Angamali diocese falling in Idukki district. There are 34 parishes in the region. Major parishes are St. George Cathedral Adimali,St George church muruckumthotty ,Koompanpara St. George Church, 14th mile Ignatius Noorono Church.

The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church (MOSC) also known as the Indian Orthodox Church (IOC) or simply as the Malankara Church, is an autocephalous Oriental Orthodox church headquartered in Devalokam, near Kottayam, India. It serves India's Saint Thomas Christian population. According to tradition, these communities originated in the missions of Thomas the Apostle in the 1st century. It employs the Malankara Rite, an Indian form of the West Syriac liturgical rite.
Perumbavoor is a municipality in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, India. Mor Baselios Thomas I was a Syriac Orthodox prelate who served as the Catholicos of India (Maphrian) and head of the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church. Enthroned on 26 July 2002 by Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I Iwas in Damascus, Syria, he led the church through periods of ecclesiastical and social challenge until his death in 2024.

Mar Thoma Cheriyapally is a Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church located in Kothamangalam town of Ernakulam district, Kerala, India. The church is believed to have been established in 1455 by 18 families who separated from Marth Maryam Valiyapally. The church is famous for the feast of Mor Baselios Yeldo, a Syriac Jacobite saint who preached in Kothamangalam. After his death, he was entombed in the altar room of this church. The church had witnessed many historic events of the Malankara.
