Malila people

The Malila are an ethnic and linguistic group based in Momba District of Songwe Region in south-western Tanzania. In 2003 the Malila population was estimated to number 65,000 .

Their traditional area comprises the wards of Isuto, Ilembo, Iwiji, Masoko, Santilya, Iyunga Mapinduzi and areas in the Mbalizi Valley.

The radiated tortoise is a tortoise species in the family Testudinidae. Although this species is native to and most abundant in southern Madagascar, it can also be found in the rest of this island, and has been introduced to the islands of Réunion and Mauritius. It is a very long-lived species, with recorded lifespans of up to 188 years. These tortoises are classified as critically endangered by the IUCN, mainly because of the destruction of their habitat and because of poaching.

Jonathan Mwe di Malila also known as Jonathan Malila, is a congolese-born artist living and working in Cologne, Germany. His artwork tries to thematizise congolese everyday Culture, which he dubbed Congo Pop. He is a nephew of the congolese deputy minister of international relation and national integration Franck Mwe di Malila and is also a descendant of the Mwe di Malila family, among the most notable families in Kinshasa, Cabinda and Bas-Congo. Mwe di, an honorable particule meaning Lord, derives from the Kikongo term Mwene, the title of the Lords and Nobility of the Kingdom of Kongo.

Aquatics at the 1981 Southeast Asian Games included swimming, diving and water polo events. The three sports of aquatics were held in Malila, Philippines. Aquatics events was held between 10 December to 13 December.

Malila: The Farewell Flower is a 2017 Thai drama film directed by Anucha Boonyawatana. The film premiered at Busan International Film Festival where it won Kim Jiseok Award. It was selected as the Thai entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.

The Umalila Mountains are a mountain range in southern Tanzania, on the border with Malawi. The Umalila Mountains are part of Tanzania's Southern Highlands.

Mumba Malila is a Zambian supreme court judge serving as the 8th chief justice of Zambia since 2021. Prior to his appointment, Malila was the Zambian attorney general from 2011 to 2014 and then he was appointed as a supreme court Judge by Michael Sata. He also once saved as the Commissioner for the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and its Vice Chairperson from October 2006 to November 2011.
