Martina Maria Ertl-Renz (born 12 September 1973) is a German former alpine skier. She was two times world champion and also won several medals at Olympic Winter Games and World Championships. [1]

Biography

Martina Ertl is the sister of the German alpine ski Andreas Ertl. [2]

Skiing career

Ertl started skiing at the age of two and a half. At the age of 18 she participated in the Junior World Championship in Hemsedal (Norway) winning a silver medal in Giant Slalom and a bronze medal in Combined.

This was the starting point of a long career. Until 2006 she took part in 430 World Cup races winning 14 of them. Ertl won the Giant Slalom World Cup in 1996 and 1998. She won three Olympic medals and four medals at World Championships (Bronze in Giant Slalom at Morioka 1993, Bronze medalist in Giant Slalom at Sierra Nevada 1996, Gold in Combined at St. Anton 2001, Gold in Nation Team Event at Bormio 2005).

She represented Germany at five Winter Olympics between 1992 and 2006, winning silver medals in the giant slalom in 1994 and the combined event in 1998, as well as a bronze medal in the combined event in 2002. [3]

Tomba was able to take advantage of the introduction of spring-loaded ski gates which replaced the older, solid gates in the early 1980s by using his power to maintain a faster, more direct line through courses. Tomba won three Olympic gold medals, two World Championships, and nine World Cup season titles: four in slalom, four in giant slalom, and one overall title. He was popularly called Tomba la Bomba.

Born in Kleinarl, Salzburg, she was the most successful female alpine ski racer during the 1970s, with six overall titles, including five consecutive. Moser-Pröll celebrated her biggest successes in downhill, giant slalom and combined races. In 1980, her last year as a competitor, she secured her third Olympic medal at Lake Placid and won five World Cup races. Her younger sister Cornelia Pröll is also a former Olympic alpine skier.

Celina Seghi is an Italian former alpine skier. Born in Abetone, Tuscany, she was the youngest child in a family of nine and earned her first Italian championship medal, a bronze in the slalom, in 1934.

Ester Ledecká Czech snowboarder and skier

Ester Ledecká is a Czech snowboarder and alpine skier. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Ledecká won gold medals in the super-G in alpine skiing and in the parallel giant slalom in snowboarding, becoming the first person to win two gold medals at the same Winter Olympics using two different types of equipment. She was the second woman to win Olympic gold in two separate disciplines but the first to do so at the same Winter Olympics. She was the first Czech to win the parallel giant slalom in snowboarding at the FIS Snowboard World Cup.
