As Good as It Gets is a 1997 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by James L. Brooks. The movie stars Jack Nicholson as a misanthropic and obsessive-compulsive novelist, Helen Hunt as a single mother with a chronically ill son, and Greg Kinnear as a gay artist. The screenplay was written by Mark Andrus and Brooks. The paintings were created for the film by New York artist Billy Sullivan.
Melvins are an American rock band whose early work was key to the development of both grunge and sludge metal. The band formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington. They have mostly performed as a trio, as well as a quartet with either two drummers/bassists in recent years. Since 1984, vocalist and guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover have been constant members. The band was named after a supervisor at a Thriftway in Montesano, Washington, where Osborne also worked as a clerk. "Melvin" was disliked by other employees, and the band's members felt it to be an appropriately ridiculous name.

Patrick Alan "Pat" Day is an American jockey. He is a four-time winner of the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey and was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1991. Day also received the George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award in 1985, given annually to a North American jockey who demonstrates the highest standards of professional and personal conduct. In 1995, he was voted the Mike Venezia Memorial Award for "extraordinary sportsmanship and citizenship". Some critics said Day was a big fish in a small pond because the majority of his wins and all of his riding titles were in the Midwest. Day didn't win any riding titles in California, New York or Florida, when he was facing the best jockey competition while riding on a daily basis.
Bryan Station High School, founded in 1958, is a high school within the Fayette County Public Schools system in Lexington, Kentucky. During the 2006–2007 school year, students were moved to their newly built school known as Bryan Station High. The school was named for Bryan Station, an 18th-century pioneer settlement. The school's sports teams are called the Defenders, and the school mascot is the "Mean Man"; the school says "His persona reflects the heritage of the pioneers at the siege of Bryan Station Fort between the British and Indians in 1782."

The 1983–84 Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team represented University of Kentucky and went to the 1984 Final Four. The head coach was Joe B. Hall. The team was a member of the Southeast Conference and played their home games at Rupp Arena. Because the Wildcats played the regional final on their home court, the following season the NCAA enacted a rule not allowing any school to play in a tournament game on its home court.
