Mill Green is a small village [1] that straddles the borders of the Lichfield District and Metropolitan Borough of Walsall in both Staffordshire and West Midlands County, England. The village is located close to the towns of Aldridge, Brownhills and Sutton Coldfield as well as the villages of Walsall Wood, Stonnall, Little Aston and Streetly. The Walsall parts are unparished, while the Lichfield parts are within the civil parish of Shenstone.
Mill Green [2] is located along the ancient trackway between Chester and the wider West Midlands. It dates as far back as the Neolithic period and continues to be a vital link road. [3] The village was once part of the wider Aldridge manor and township of the town. Later forming part of the Aldridge-Brownhills Urban District. However, following the 1974 Local Government Act, Aldridge was moved into the newly formed Metropolitan Borough of Walsall along with the rest of the Aldridge-Brownhills Urban District. This also included parts of Mill Green. However, parts of the village were moved into the Lichfield District and placed under the Shenstone Parish. [4] Thus forming a border village between two counties and two districts. [5]
Mill Green has some amenities including Mill Green Sports Ground, and Four Oaks Football Club which is based at the ground. [6] The Old Irish Harp Aldridge Pub is located in the village on the A452 road, [7] and the Plough and Harrow Pub is located in the north of the village.
