On July 14, 2022, it was reported that the competition would be held in Reno, Nevada, with the city securing a three-year deal to host the pageant from 2022 to 2024 under the ownership of then-national director and Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart. [3] The event was originally to take place at Grand Sierra Resort in Reno; this would be the fourth time that the pageant is held in Reno and the third consecutive year holding the pageant in the city following Miss USA 2019, 2022 and 2023.

On June 29, 2024, it was announced that Miss USA 2024 would take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, scheduled to be held on August 4, 2024. This will be the first time since 2007 returning to its original home in California. [4]

Selection of contestants

Starting with this edition of the pageant, the Miss Universe Organization announced that it would allow women who are 28 years old and over to participate. Previous editions had only above 18 and below 28 years of age. [5]

Selection of delegates at state pageants was supposed to begin in August 2023; however, after the appointment of president and CEO Laylah Rose, the state pageants were postponed indefinitely. The state pageants were then rescheduled in March 2024. The first state pageant was Tennessee, held on March 9, 2024, and the last state pageant will be Florida, scheduled to be held on July 7, 2024. [6] The state pageant season in previous years was much longer, around five to seven months.

Contestants

As of 1 July 2024, representatives of 48 states and the federal district have been chosen to compete for the Miss USA title.

Miss USA is an American beauty pageant that has been held annually since 1952 to select the entrant from United States in the Miss Universe pageant. The Miss Universe Organization operated both pageants, as well as Miss Teen USA, until 2020, when the organization announced it was licensing operation of the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants to Crystle Stewart, Miss USA for 2008 prior to her suspension in October 2022, thus returning the said pageants to the Miss Universe Organization.

Miss Teen USA is a beauty pageant that has been run since 1983 by the Miss Universe Organization for girls aged 14–19 years old as of January 1st of the competition year. They must be US citizens, and cannot have been married, pregnant, or have children. Unlike its sister pageants Miss Universe, which currently broadcasts on JKN18 and like it’s sister pageant Miss USA, it is televised on The CW television network starting in 2024, after being streamed online for several years. The Miss Universe Organization previously operated Miss Teen USA, as well as Miss USA, until 2020 when the rights to produce both pageants were licensed to Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart prior to her suspension in October 2022, thus returning the said pageants to the Miss Universe Organization. The parent company of all three pageants and the Miss Universe organization remains the same under the licensing agreement: JKN Metaverse Inc., a subsidiary of JKN Global Group.
