Mont Ngafula, or Mont-Ngafula, is a municipality ( commune ) in the Lukunga District of Kinshasa, in the western part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). [2] By its surface area, Mont Ngafula is the third-largest commune in Kinshasa's city-province. It is located in the hilly southern area of Kinshasa and is intersected by the Lukaya River valley in its southern portion. The boundary with the Ngaliema commune is defined by the Lukunga River. [3] Mont Ngafula shares borders with the Makala commune to the north, the Kongo Central Province to the south, the Lemba and Kisenso communes to the east, and the Selembao commune to the west. [4] It has an estimated population of 718,197 (2015). [5]

Residence in the area is relatively new; in the 1970s, it became home to a small number of upper and middle-class business executives, politicians and other relatively affluent people. However, many of the extravagant compounds commissioned remain incomplete due to the drastic economic decline that characterized the latter portion of the Mobutu era. [4] [6]

Mont Ngafula is home to several notable landmarks, including the Loyola University of Congo, [7] the antiquated Catholic mission Sainte Marie de Kimwenza, [8] [9] [10] the DRC's second-largest hospital Hôpital du Cinquantenaire de Kinshasa. [11] It also houses Kimbondo Pediatric Hospital [12] and the cultural and religious center Mater Dei. [13] The Mont Ngafula municipal building is strategically located at Mobutu Avenue. [14] Lycée Kimwenza and Elisabeth International Bilingual School are regional prominent schools, [15] [16] [17] while the Faculty of Agronomic and Veterinary Science is the most significant research center for agricultural and veterinary technical education. [18] [19] [4] Lake Ma-Vallée, Joli Camp Site, Mission de Kimwenza, Lola ya Bonobo and Petites Chutes de la Lukaya are the region's most prominent and significant tourist destinations. [20] [21] [22]

MadimbaTerritory is a territory in the Kongo Central Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Its seat is the town of Madimba. The region covers an area of 8,260 square miles and is situated 100 km from Kinshasa. It spans from the Lukusu River in the north to Kintano in the west, and from the Inkisi River in the west to Kinkosi-Luidi in the southeast. The territory borders Kasangulu Territory to the northeast, Kimvula Territory to the southeast, Mbanza-Ngungu Territory to the west, and Angola to the south. Madimba Territory is home to an approximate population of 463,132 residents.

The Air Transport Authority of the Democratic Republic of Congo (RVA) is the air transportation board of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its head office is at the intersection of N'Dolo Airport and Avenue Kabasele Tshiamala, in the Ndolo neighbourhood of the Barumbu commune of Kinshasa. The agency operates 54 airports in the DRC.

Justin Bitakwira Bihona-Hayi is a Congolese politician and a member of the National Assembly. He is the founder of the Alliance pour la République et la Conscience Nationale political party (ARCN) and a member of the Union for the Congolese Nation. He has been affiliated with several political parties, including the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS) and the People's Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD). He held various government positions, including Minister of Rural Development, Minister of Communication and Media and Minister of Relations with Parliament. l’Hôpital du Cinquantenaire de Kinshasa is the second largest hospital in the Democratic Republic of the Congo after the Kinshasa General Hospital. The hospital is in the Mont Ngafula area south of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The hospital includes include 515 beds, surgical services, infectious diseases, pediatrics, gynecology, obstetrics, ENT, nephrology, urology, cardiology, respiratory medicine and other health services.

Kinyandonyi is a village in the Rutshuru Territory of the North Kivu Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Kinyandonyi is situated 10 km east of the city of Kiwanja in Bukoma groupement, in the Bwisha Chiefdom and 85 km north of the capital of the province Goma. The region is inhabited by the Hunde people as well as some remaining autochthonous populations of African Pygmies, including the Twa people and the Mbuti people. In addition to the Hunde, Twa, and Mbuti, there are other ethnic groups, including the Nyanga, Lega, Kumu, Hutu and Tutsi.

The Université Pédagogique Nationale, formerly named the Institut Pédagogique National, colloquially referred to by its acronym UPN, is a public institution of higher education dedicated to training teachers, enhancing their skills, and promoting studies and research in applied pedagogy. Located in the Ngaliema commune of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the university is led by Professor Masanga Maponda Anastasie. Established in 1961, it is the first pedagogical university in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The Sainte Marie de Kimwenza is a Roman Catholic parish church located in the Mont Ngafula commune of the Lukunga District in Kinshasa within the western region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Established in 1954, the mission was initially founded by the Jesuits in 1893, and in 1894, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur established a girls' school. The Faculty of Agronomic and Veterinary Science has obtained all necessary official authorizations for its operation, including the acquisition of land opposite the church after a long discernment process.

The Pediatric Foundation of Kimbondo, colloquially known as Mama Koko Orphanage or Pédiatrie de Kimbondo and denoted by the acronym FPK, is a non-profit organization that provides free housing, medical care, sustenance, and education for sick, abandoned, and orphaned children. It is strategically located in the Kimbondo neighborhood of the Mont Ngafula commune, 35 km from Downtown Kinshasa in the western region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Mater Dei Parish, also known simply as Mater Dei, is a Roman Catholic parish church located in the Kimbondo neighborhood of the Mont Ngafula commune, within the Lukunga District in Kinshasa, situated in the western region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). It is part of the Italian Institute of Consolata Missionaries with primary hubs in Ngudia-Baka, Nsabuka, and Mitendi, along with sub-parochial outposts in Télécoms, Kimbanseke, and Masina Sans Fil. The parish commemorates its patronal feast on May 8, a tradition dating back to 1980 when Pope John Paul II made his inaugural visit to Zaire.
