Geography

The Commune is one of 30 communes that make up the Natura 2000 protected area of Bocages et vergers du sud Pays d'Auge. [3]

In addition the commune along with another 32 communes is part of the Natura 2000 conservation area, called the Haute vallée de la Sarthe. [4]

Gouffern en Auge is a commune in the department of Orne, northwestern France. The municipality was established on 1 January 2017 by merger of the former communes of Silly-en-Gouffern, Aubry-en-Exmes, Avernes-sous-Exmes, Le Bourg-Saint-Léonard, Chambois, La Cochère, Courménil, Exmes, Fel, Omméel, Saint-Pierre-la-Rivière, Survie, Urou-et-Crennes and Villebadin.

Bocages et vergers du sud Pays d'Auge translated as the Bocages and orchards of the southern Pays d'Auge is a Natura 2000 conservation area that is 21,511 hectares in size.
