Navas del Rey is a municipality of the Community of Madrid, Spain. It is located 52 kilometers from the city of Madrid, which is accessed by the road M-501 .

Navas del Rey is located in a transition zone between the Sierra de Guadarrama and Sierra de Gredos . To the north the municipality borders the village of Robledo de Chavela, east to the towns of Chapinería and Colmenar del Arroyo, south to Aldea del Fresno and west Pelayos Dam and San Martin de Valdeiglesias . Along with other municipalities make up what is called the Commonwealth of Pinares, through which are channeled much of the initiatives from the various municipalities that are grouped in this commonwealth .

Rural Tourism

Township Navas del Rey is located in the southwest of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, within the region of Basin Alberche river, its location in the transition zone between the Sierra de Guadarrama and Sierra de Gredos, makes it an ideal place for rural tourism .

In the municipality there is a significant number of plant and animal species of low ecological value. Its characteristic forests of oaks and pines give a unique color to the landscape. In its unique fauna includes species in danger of extinction, such as the imperial eagle, the black stork .

Sierra de Gredos

The Sierra de Gredos is a mountain range in central Spain that spans the provinces of Ávila, Salamanca, Cáceres, Madrid, and Toledo. It is part of the much larger Sistema Central of mountain ranges. Its highest point is Pico Almanzor, at 2,592 metres and it has been declared a natural park by the Autonomous Community of Castile and León. The Sierra de Gredos is one of the most extensive mountain ranges of the Central System; it comprises five river valleys: the Alto Tormes, the Alto Alberche, the Tiétar Oriental, the Tiétar Occidental y la Vera, and the Valle del Ambroz. The first known inhabitants were the Vettones, a pre-Roman Celtic people. The central part of the range encomprises the Sierra de Gredos Regional Park.

The Sierra de Guadarrama is a mountain range forming the main eastern section of the Sistema Central, the system of mountain ranges along the centre of the Iberian Peninsula. It is located between the systems Sierra de Gredos in the province of Ávila, and Sierra de Ayllón in the province of Guadalajara.

Guadarrama (river)

The Guadarrama is a river in Spain. A tributary of the Tagus, the longest river on the Iberian Peninsula, Guadarrama has its source in the Siete Picos, part of the Sierra de Guadarrama, in the Community of Madrid, in the central part of the country, at an altitude of 1,900 metres (6,200 ft).

Los Negrales

Los Negrales is a residential zone in the municipal area of Collado Villalba, Alpedrete, Saint Lorenzo de El Escorial, Guadarrama and Galapagar, consisting mostly of detached houses. Although it was divided in three administrative zones, Los Negrales is a contiguous residential area. This residential zone was built gradually. The oldest houses date to the first half of the 20th century, and building has continued until contemporary times. A significant part of the houses are second residences of their owners, therefore, in summer and in holidays the population doubles.
