The Nepal Judo Association (NJA) is the national sports body for judo in Nepal. Founded in 1983, NJA is affiliated with the International Judo Federation (IJF) and the Judo Union of Asia (JUA). The association is headquartered at Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu.
NJA has been instrumental in promoting judo across the country, organizing national and international competitions, and nurturing talented judokas. Notable Nepalese judokas include Soniya Bhatta and Ganga Bahadur Dangol.
In 1969 AD Judo was first introduced to Nepal Police. Mr. Ichizo Shakairi from Japan coached Nepal Police Judokas, Mr. Shakairi is considered as the first professional judo coach in Nepal.
After gaining few popularity, Mr.Bishnu Gopal Shrestha and his team registered Nepal Judo Association under NSC in 1983 AD. Now it is affiliated to Judo Union of Asia and International Judo Federation.
In 2016, IJF organized Judo for the world- Nepal series to help the 2015 earthquake victims.

Judo was a sport at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, and featured around 393 judoka competing in 15 events, seven each for both men and women as well as a new mixed team event. The 2020 Summer Olympics were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the judo competitions were held in July 2021 at Nippon Budokan.
The 2014 World Judo Championships were held in Chelyabinsk, Russia, from 25 to 31 August 2014, in the Traktor Ice Arena. Each participating country was permitted to present a total of 18 men and women judokas to participate in the 14 weight categories, but no more than two judokas from the same country were allowed to fight in the same category.

Gefen Primo is an Israeli judoka. She competes in the under 52 kg weight category. In 2017 she was the European Youth Olympic Champion. She won bronze medals in the 2018 European Judo Championships, 2021 World Judo Championships, 2021 European Judo Championships, and 2022 World Judo Championships. Primo represented Israel at the 2024 Paris Olympics in judo in the women's 52 kg, in which she came in seventh, and in the mixed team event, in which Team Israel came in ninth.

The Judo Union of Asia (JUA) is the governing body of judo in Asia. It is one of the five continental confederations making up the International Judo Federation (IJF). JUA was formed in 1956 in Tokyo (Japan), with Chinese Taipei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Philippines and Thailand being the founder members. JUA has headquarters in Kuwait and consists of 39 member federations.

Inbar Lanir is an Israeli Olympic silver medalist judoka and 2023 world champion. She competes in the under 78 kg weight category. She also won a mixed-team bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic Games. In addition to winning the 2023 world championship, she won gold medals at the 2023 World Masters and the 2023 Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam. Lanir competed for Israel at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and won the silver medal in the women's 78 kg, while she also represented Israel in the mixed team event, in which Team Israel came in ninth. As of November 2024, Lanir is the top ranked Israeli judoka.
Raz Hershko is an Israeli Olympic silver medalist and European champion judoka. She was the 2015 European U18 Champion, the 2017 European U23 championships silver medalist, and won a bronze medal in the 2023 world championships. She competed for Israel at the 2020 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal in mixed team. She is the 2024 European Champion. Representing Israel at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Hershko won the silver medal in judo in the women's +78 kg, and also competed in the mixed team event, in which Team Israel came in ninth.
Soniya Bhatta is a Nepali professional judoka, she represents Nepal internationally in Judo Tournament in the Extra-lightweight (48 kg) event.
The Judo World Masters is an annual invite-only judo competition. After being open for only the top 16 ranked judoka in each weight class for its first eight installments, the tournament was expended to host the top 36 of each weight class in 2019. The world masters is the only world tour event with no limitation on the number of judoka competing from any single national association.
The IJF World Tour is a worldwide top-tier judo tour, organized by the International Judo Federation since 2009.
The 2022 World Judo Championships was held at the Humo Ice Dome in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from 6 to 13 October 2022 as part of the IJF World Tour and during the 2024 Summer Olympics qualification period, concluding with the mixed team event on its final day.
The Judo Grand Slam tournaments are international judo tournaments held by the International Judo Federation as part of the IJF World Tour.
