Nexus Airlines is an Australian regional airline based in Kununurra, Western Australia, [1] owned by HMC Group (who also own Aviair), which launched on 17 May 2023. [2] The inaugural flight, part of Western Australia's Inter-Regional Flight Network (IRFN) from Geraldton to Broome occurred on 10 July. [3] The company slogan is ‘Connecting Us’.
The airline has two bases, one in Geraldton and the other in Broome. [4] [2]
Nexus Airlines launched on 17 May 2023 announcing plans to commence regular public transport (RPT) services on 10 July 2023 [5] with their newly acquired fleet of five de Havilland Canada Dash 8-Q400 turboprop aircraft leased from Nordic Aviation Capital. [2] [6]
In a press release from the Minister for Transport, Rita Saffioti, the Western Australian Government confirmed a $4.05 million investment over four years to 2027 to support the airline to expand WA's Inter-Regional Flight Network (IRFN). [5]
The first flight on the Geraldton-Karratha-Port Hedland-Broome route, part of the IRFN, took off on 10 July. The airline has exclusive rights to operate the route until June 2027. [3]
Flights on the Broome-Kununurra-Darwin route commenced on 28 July, in competition with incumbent operator Airnorth. Whilst four flights a week were operated on this route, in May 2024 it increased to daily flights. [7]
On 2 April 2024 Nexus commenced RPT flights between Perth and Kalgoorlie twice daily one day per week. [8]
Nexus Airlines operates flights from Perth to Geraldton and Kalgoorlie.
On the Inter Reginal Flight Network, Nexus operate between Geraldton and Broome, via Karratha and Port Hedland.
On the Northern Route, Nexus operate between Broome and Darwin via Kununurra.
Flights to and from Perth operate out of Perth Airport's regional Terminal 2. [9]
