On 23 November 2025, Israel carried out an airstrike against a building in Beirut, Lebanon, killing Hezbollah commander and chief of staff Haytham Ali Tabatabai and four Hezbollah militants, and injuring 28 others. [2]
Israel carried out an airstrike on a building in the Dahieh neighborhood of Beirut, Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah's commander and chief of staff Haytham Ali Tabatabai. Five people were killed and 25 were injured. [3] In addition to Tabatabai, Hezbollah identified the four other killed militants as Qassem Hussein Barjawi, Mustafa Assad Barru, Rafaat Ahmad Hussein, and Ibrahim Ali Hussein. [1] [4]
In a televised speech on 28 November, Naim Qassem, the secretary general of Hezbollah since October 2024, declared that the killing of Haytham Ali Tabatabai a "blatant aggression and a heinous crime" and stated that Hezbollah has "the right to respond, and we will determine the timing for that." [5]
