Belgium has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 62 times since making its debut as one of seven countries at the first contest in 1956. The only countries with more appearances are Germany (64), France (63) and the United Kingdom (63). Belgium have been absent only three times in total, in 1994, 1997 and 2001, due to low scores in the previous contests that relegated them from the contest. Belgium has won the contest once, in 1986.
"Je t'adore" was the Belgian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006, performed in English by Kate Ryan. It was the seventh song to be performed in this contest and the 999th by counting all songs which had ever performed on Eurovision Song Contest. "Je t'adore" was released in 2006 as the lead single from Ryan's third studio album Alive (2006).
"The Voice" was the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 1996, performed in English by Eimear Quinn representing Ireland. The music was composed, and the lyrics were written, by Brendan Graham, who had also written and composed "Rock 'N' Roll Kids", the Irish winner from the 1994 contest. The victory, which was Ireland's fourth in five years, was their seventh contest victory, which remains a record for the most contests won by a single country.
"Sister" was the Belgian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002, performed in English by Sergio & The Ladies.
"Sanomi" is a song recorded by Belgian six-piece band Urban Trad, written by Yves Barbieux. It is best known as the Belgian entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003, held in Riga.
"1 Life" was the Belgian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, performed in English by Xandee. It was her first single as a solo artist.
"Le grand soir" was the Belgian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, performed in French by Nuno Resende.
Thor Salden, better known as Thor!, is a former child singer. Salden rose to fame in 2006, being the Belgian contestant at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with "Een tocht door het donker". The song topped the Flemish Ultratop charts for one week. Salden withdrew from the stage at the age of 11.
"Love Power" was the Belgian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 performed in English by The KMG's.
Belgium made its 50th appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. This year Flemish broadcaster VRT was in charge of selecting the Belgian entry and chose it through the programme Eurosong. The winning song was selected on Sunday, 9 March 2008.
Ishtar is a Belgian (Flemish) folk band who represented Belgium at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "O Julissi", sung in an imaginary language. They competed in the first semi-final on 20 May 2008.
"Day After Day" is a song by Elnur Hüseynov and Samir Javadzadeh which was Azerbaijan's entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. The song was released on 2 February 2008 and marked Azerbaijan's debut in the contest.
Tom Dice is a Belgian singer-songwriter. He finished runner-up in the Flemish version of The X Factor in 2008 using his birth name Tom Eeckhout, but soon after changed his name taking the stage name Tom Dice.
"Me and My Guitar" is a song performed by Belgian singer-songwriter Tom Dice from his debut album Teardrops. The song was written by British singer-songwriter Ashley Hicklin, writer-producer Jeroen Swinnen and Tom Dice himself. It took first place in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 Semi-final 1 on 25 May and was the first Belgian act to qualify for the final since the introduction of the semi-finals in Eurovision. In the final Tom Dice scored 143 points and finished 6th.
"Love Kills" is a song recorded by Belgian singer Roberto Bellarosa. The song was written by Jukka Immonen and Iain Farquharson. It is best known as Belgium's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 held in Malmö, Sweden. The song competed in the first semi-final on 14 May 2013 for a spot in the final on 18 May 2013. During the first semi-final, Belgium was voted into the final on 18 May 2013. In the final the song placed 12th with 71 points.
"City Lights" is a song performed by Belgian singer Blanche. The song represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, and it finished in 4th place in the grand final on 13 May 2017. The song was intended to be released as a digital download on 8 March 2017 through PIAS Belgium, but leaked through Spotify the night before.
"A Matter of Time" is a song recorded by Belgian singer-songwriter Sennek, best known for representing Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. Sennek co-wrote the track with Alex Callier and Maxime Tribèche. The song was officially released on 5 March 2018, one day before its scheduled release, as it was already leaked on YouTube.
"Release Me" is a song by the Belgian band Hooverphonic. It would have represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. The song was released as a digital download on 17 February 2020.
"The Wrong Place" is a song by Belgian band Hooverphonic. The song represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, after being internally selected by the national broadcasters Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie (VRT) and Radio Télévision Belge de la Communauté Française (RTBF).
