Parigi Moutong Regency is a regency of Central Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. The regency was created on 10 April 2002 by splitting off the eastern districts previously part of Donggala Regency. It covers an area of 5,877.47 km2 and had a population of 413,588 at the 2010 Census [2] and 440,015 at the 2020 Census; [3] the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 457,031 (comprising 233,529 males and 223,502 females). [1] The principal town lies at Parigi in the south of the regency. The regency stretches from around Parigi district in its south all the way past Moutong district in the north, giving the name.
In terms of its geographic position, Parigi Moutong Regency is bounded to the north by Buol Regency, Toli-Toli Regency, and the province of Gorontalo, to the south by Poso Regency and Sigi Regency, to the west by Palu City and Donggala Regency, and to the east by the Gulf of Tomini.
The regency has a coastline along the shore in the Gulf of Tomini of 472 kms, stretching from the Sausu District in the south as far as Moutong District (and Gorontalo Province) bordering on the north side.
Parigi Moutong Regency was divided at 2010 into twenty districts (kecamatan), but three additional districts were subsequently added. The districts are all tabulated below in geographical order, stretching clockwise around the Gulf of Tomini, with their areas and their populations at the 2010 Census [2] and 2020 Census, [3] together with the official estimates as at mid 2023. [1] The districts are grouped for convenience into three geographical sectors, which have no administrative significance. The table also includes the locations of the district administrative centres, the number of villages in each district (a total of 278 rural desa and 5 urban kelurahan, the latter all being in Parigi District), and its post code.

The Tomini languages, spoken in the eight last-named districts in the table above, belong to the putative Tomini-Tolitoli languages group.
Central Sulawesi is a province of Indonesia located at the centre of the island of Sulawesi. The administrative capital and largest city is located in Palu. The province borders the provinces of Gorontalo to the east, Southeast Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi to the south, and sharing maritime borders with East Kalimantan to the west, North Maluku to the east, and Malaysia and the Philippines to the north.
The Lingga Regency is a group of 600 islands in Indonesia, located south of Singapore and along both sides of the equator, off the eastern coast of Riau Province on Sumatra island. They are due south of the populated Riau Archipelago, known for the industrial island of Batam and the tourist-frequented island of Bintan, although the Lingga Islands themselves are rarely visited due to the infrequent local transportation. The equator goes through the northern tip of Lingga Island, the main island in the archipelago.
Donggala Regency is a regency in the Central Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. It lies between 0° 30" north and 2°20" south latitude, and between 119° 45°" and 121° 45" east longitude, and covers a land area of 5,126.59 km2. It had a population of 277,236 at the 2010 Census and 300,436 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 308,301. The administrative capital of Donggala Regency is the town of Banawa, located a 30-minute drive (34 km) northwest from the city of Palu, the capital of the province.
Bengkalis Regency is a regency of Indonesia in Riau Province. The regency was originally established in 1956 and then included most of the northern part of the province, but on 4 October 1999 it was divided up, with most of the territory being split off to form the new Rokan Hilir Regency, Siak Regency and the city of Dumai. On 19 December 2008 a further five districts were removed to create the new Meranti Islands Regency, leaving eight districts in the Bengkalis Regency. These eight districts has increased since 2010 to eleven by the splitting of existing districts on the Sumatran mainland.
The Togian Islands are an archipelago of 56 islands and many offshore islets, situated in the Gulf of Tomini, off the coast of Central Sulawesi, in Indonesia. The largest islands are Batudaka, Togean, Talatako, Una-Una, Walea Bahi, Walea Kodi and Malenge. There are 59 villages on the islands, with one settled by the Bajau people, more commonly known as the sea gypsies.
Ende Regency is a regency on the island of Flores, within East Nusa Tenggara Province of Indonesia. The regency covers an area of 2,091.19 km2, and it had a population of 260,605 at the 2010 Census and 270,763 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 280,328. It is bordered to the west by Nagekeo Regency and to the east by Sikka Regency, while the Flores Sea lies to the north and the Savu Sea to the south.
Pamekasan Regency is a regency (kabupaten) of the province of East Java, Indonesia. It is located on Madura Island approximately 120 kilometres (75 mi) east of Surabaya, the provincial capital. The regency covers an area of 792.30 square kilometres (305.91 sq mi), and at the 2010 census it had a population of 795,918 ; at the 2020 census the total was 850,057 and the official estimate as of mid-2023 was 882,837 – comprising 431,891 males and 450,946 females. The administrative capital is the town of Pamekasan.
Gorontalo is a regency of Gorontalo Province, Indonesia, on the island of Sulawesi. It was established in 1959 under Law Number 29/1959, but has subsequently been reduced in area as additional regencies have been cut out of it. It now has an area of 2,189.08 km2 and had a population of 355,988 at the 2010 Census and 393,107 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 418,244. The administrative headquarters of the regency is in the town of Limboto.
Buol Regency is a regency of Central Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. It was created on 4 October 1999, having previously been the eastern half of a larger Buol Tolitoli Regency. It covers an area of 4,043.57 km2, and had a population of 132,330 at the 2010 Census; and 145,254 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 150,524. The administrative centre is the town of Buol, in Biau District.
Bone Bolango is a regency of Gorontalo Province, Indonesia, on the island of Sulawesi. It was established in 2003 under Law Number 6/2003 from the former eastern districts of Gorontalo Regency. It has an area of 1,915.44 km2 and had a population of 141,915 at the 2010 Census and 162,778 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 172,301. The administrative centre of the regency is the town of Suwawa.
Pohuwato is a regency of Gorontalo Province, Indonesia. It is located on the northern peninsula of the island of Sulawesi. It was established on 25 February 2003 under Law Number 6/2003 by splitting off from the western part of Boalemo Regency. It has an area of 4,244.31 km2, and had a population of 128,748 at the 2010 Census and 146,432 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 160,187. The seat of the regency administration is in the town of Marisa.
East Sumba Regency is geographically the largest of the four regencies which divide the island of Sumba, within East Nusa Tenggara Province of Indonesia. It occupies 62% of the entire island, being much less densely populated than the western third. The town of Waingapu is the capital of East Sumba Regency. The population of East Sumba Regency was 227,732 at the 2010 Census and 244,820 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 255,498.
Manggarai Regency is a regency in East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia, situated on the island of Flores. Established in 1958 to encompass the 6,924.18 km2 area of the lands of the indigenous Manggarai people, the regency was reduced in area and in population by the separation of the more western districts to form West Manggarai Regency on 25 February 2003 and of the more eastern districts to form East Manggarai Regency on 17 July 2007.
North Luwu Regency is a regency of South Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. It was created on 20 April 1999 by separation of the province's northern districts formerly within the Luwu Regency; however on 25 February 2003 it was reduced when the easternmost of these same districts were split off to create the East Luwu Regency. It now covers 7,502.58 km2 and had a population of 287,606 at the 2010 census and 322,919 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 333,127. The principal town lies at Masamba.
Sinjai Regency is a regency of the South Sulawesi province of Indonesia. The regency, which is separated from the Bone Regency to its north by the River Tangka, covers an area of 819.96 km2. It had a population of 228,936 at the 2010 census and 259,478 at the 2020 census. The official estimate of population as of mid-2024 was 273,559. It includes the Nine Islands in the Gulf of Bone off the east coast of the southern peninsula of Sulawesi; this archipelago forms an administrative district within the regency. The regency's principal town lies at Sinjai, a port situated on the east coast of that peninsula.
Poso Regency is a regency of Central Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. It covers an area of 7,438.55 km2, and had a population of 209,228 at the 2010 Census and 244,875 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 251,654. The principal town lies at Poso.
Tojo Una-Una Regency is a regency of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The administrative centre is at Ampana town, on the Sulawesi 'mainland'. While the Regency includes a considerable area on the eastern peninsula of Sulawesi, it also includes the Togian Islands in the Gulf of Tomini. The total area covers 5,721.51 km2 and the population was 134,945 at the 2010 Census and 163,829 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 169,002.
South Bolaang Mongondow Regency is a regency of North Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. The Regency stretches along the south coast of the province as part of the Minahasa Peninsula, facing the Gulf of Tomini. It was created on 24 June 2008 by splitting off districts which were previously the southern part of Bolaang Mongondow Regency. It covers a land area of 1,932.30 km2, and had a population of 57,001 at the 2010 Census, which rose to 69,791 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 73,046. The administrative centre lies at the town of Molibagu.
Tuban Regency is a regency in the East Java province of Indonesia. The Dutch name of the regency is 'Toeban'. It covers a land area of 1,839.94 sq. km, and had a population of 1,118,464 at the 2010 Census and 1,198,012 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as of mid-2023 was 1,258,368. The administrative centre is the coastal town of Tuban.
North Toraja is a landlocked regency (kabupaten) of South Sulawesi Province of Indonesia, and the home of the Toraja ethnic group. The local government seat is in Rantepao which is also the center of Toraja culture. Formerly this regency was the northern part of Tana Toraja Regency, but on 24 June 2008 the northeastern 36% of the latter's area was split off to form this separate North Toraja Regency. It covers an area of 1,289.13 km2 and had a population of 216,762 at the 2010 census and 261,086 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 261,652, comprising 133,529 males and 128,123 females.
