The Prime Cabinet Secretary of the Republic of Kenya is a post in the executive arm of the Government of Kenya created on 27 September 2022.

History

On 27 September 2022, President William Ruto issued and signed a Presidential executive order establishing the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary of the Republic of Kenya, [2] [3] and nominated Musalia Mudavadi to the position. [2] During President Ruto's live address to the nation, he stated that the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) is the most senior office in the executive arm of the government after that of the President and Deputy President. [4] Mudavadi was officially sworn in as PCS at State House, Kenya on 27 October 2022. [5]

He served as the 7th Vice-President of Kenya in 2002 and Deputy Prime Minister (2008–2012), when he resigned to contest for the Presidency in the 2013 Kenyan general election and emerged third. He was the deputy party leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) (2005–2012) and Party Leader of the United Democratic Forum Party (UDF) from May 2012 to July 2015.
