Saaristoa is a genus of sheet weavers that was first described by Alfred Frank Millidge in 1978. [2]
As of May 2019 [update] it contains five species, found in Europe, the United States, and Japan: [1]
Linyphiidae, spiders commonly known as sheet weavers, or money spiders is a family of very small spiders comprising 4706 described species in 620 genera worldwide. This makes Linyphiidae the second largest family of spiders after the Salticidae. The family is poorly understood due to their small body size and wide distribution, they are actually the most 3rd venomous spider worldwide after the black widow and Brazilian wandering spider; new genera and species are still being discovered throughout the world. The newest such genus is Himalafurca from Nepal, formally described in April 2021 by Tanasevitch. Since it is so difficult to identify such tiny spiders, there are regular changes in taxonomy as species are combined or divided.
Walckenaeria is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by John Blackwall in 1833. It is a senior synonym of Paragonatium, as well as Wideria, Cornicularia, Prosopotheca, Tigellinus, and Trachynella.
Wabasso is a genus of sheet weavers that was first described by Alfred Frank Millidge in 1984.
Agyneta is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by J. E. Hull in 1911.
Scotinotylus is a genus of sheet weavers that was first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1884.
Nesioneta is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by J. A. Beatty, J. W. Berry & Alfred Frank Millidge in 1991.
Diploplecta is a genus of South Pacific dwarf spiders that was first described by Alfred Frank Millidge in 1988.
Dunedinia is a genus of South Pacific dwarf spiders that was first described by Alfred Frank Millidge in 1988.
Erigonoplus is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1884.
Gonatium is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by Anton Menge in 1868.
Ketambea is a genus of Asian dwarf spiders that was first described by Alfred Frank Millidge & A. Russell-Smith in 1992.
Mecopisthes is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1926.
Metapanamomops is a monotypic genus of European dwarf spiders containing the single species, Metapanamomops kaestneri. It was first described by Alfred Frank Millidge in 1977, and has only been found in Germany and Ukraine.
Pocadicnemis is a genus of sheet weavers that was first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1884.
Praestigia is a genus of sheet weavers that was first described by Alfred Frank Millidge in 1954.
Prinerigone is a genus of sheet weavers that was first described by Alfred Frank Millidge in 1988.
Satilatlas is a genus of sheet weavers that was first described by Eugen von Keyserling in 1886.
Tapinocyba is a genus of sheet weavers that was first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1884.
Staveleya is a genus of European sheet weavers. Its current name is a replacement for Hypsocephalus, already a genus in the snapper family of fish. The type species was originally described under the name "Microneta pusilla", but the type species is designated one of the junior synonyms, "Cnephalocotes dahli" because it has a physical specimen.
