Sam McFarlane Whiteman (born 19 March 1992) is an English-born-Australian cricketer currently contracted to Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers. He has also played for Australia A. Whiteman is a wicket-keeper who bats left-handed.
Born in Doncaster,South Yorkshire,Whiteman emigrated with his family to Western Australia at an early age,and was raised in Bunbury,in the state's south-west region. [1] Playing cricket from an early age,he toured England with an Australian Schools under-16 representative team during the 2007 English cricket season,aged 15. [2] Whiteman played representative cricket for Western Australia at both under-17 and under-19 level,and also played several games for the Australian under-19 cricket team in 2009,against the Indian and Sri Lankan under-19 teams. [3] In 2010,he was awarded the Adam Gilchrist Cricket Development Scholarship, [4] which allowed him to spend the 2010 season playing for the Weybridge Cricket Club in the Surrey Championship,as well as playing several Second XI matches for the Surrey County Cricket Club. [5] [6] He led Weybridge's runs totals during the season,scoring 572 runs at an average of 44.00. [7]
Having also played for Western Australia's under-23 side in the Futures League,Whiteman was awarded a Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) rookie contract for the 2012–13 season. [8] He made his debut for Western Australia in the 2012–13 Ryobi One-Day Cup against New South Wales,scoring 31 runs. [9] His first half-century,an innings of 74,came in a Ryobi Cup match against South Australia,and was Western Australia's highest score of the match. [10] Whiteman's highest score at first-class level,96 runs,was achieved opening the batting against Tasmania in November 2012. [11] Although usually playing as a wicket-keeper,Whiteman played his first few matches at state level as a specialist batsman,although towards the end of the season he took over from Tom Triffitt as Western Australia's first-choice wicket-keeper. At grade cricket level,Whiteman plays for the Rockingham-Mandurah District Cricket Club,having made his first-grade debut during the 2007–08 season,at the age of 15. [12] [13]
In April 2014,Whiteman was selected in the Australia A squad for the 2014 off-season,with the team playing series against India A and South Africa A. [14] In the first match between Australia A and India A,played in July 2014 at Allan Border Field,he scored 174 runs batting eighth in Australia's first innings,his first century at first-class level. Whiteman and Mitchell Marsh,who scored 211 runs,put on 371 runs for the seventh wicket,an Australian record and the second-highest seventh-wicket partnership recorded,behind the 460-run record set by Bhupinder Singh and Pankaj Dharmani during the 1994–95 season. The previous Australian record,set by Queenslanders Cassie Andrews and Eric Bensted,had stood since the 1934–35 season. [15]
Whiteman suffered a serious injury whilst keeping wicket to Mitchell Johnson in the BBL final. Repeated surgeries on his hand followed. [16] He returned in 2018 to the Scorchers squad as a batsman only after playing a couple of games for WA Premier Cricket side Fremantle, [17] and played 2 matches in Big Bash 7 after a year out of the game. [18]
Adam Charles Voges is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer who played for the Australian national team at Test,One Day International (ODI),and Twenty20 International (T20I) level,and also captained Western Australia and Perth Scorchers in domestic cricket. Voges' Test match batting average of 61.87 is third among batsmen that have played a minimum of 20 innings behind Don Bradman and Harry Brook,who has played exactly 20 innings as of 31 July 2023. Voges was included in the 2016 ICC Test Match Team of the Year.
Liam Murray Davis is an Australian former professional cricketer who played for Western Australia in Australian domestic cricket. A former Australian under-19 representative,Davis made his debut for Western Australia in 2006. Generally playing as an opening batsman,he did not establish himself in the state team until late in the decade,having previously missed several matches due to injury. In February 2012,Davis scored a triple-century,303 not out,against New South Wales,the second-highest score ever recorded for Western Australia at first-class level. He was also featured on the supplementary list of the Perth Scorchers for the 2012–13 season of the Big Bash League.
Craig Joseph Simmons is an Australian former professional cricketer. He played domestically for Western Australia,New South Wales,Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers. At grade cricket level,he plays for Rockingham-Mandurah in the WACA district competition,having previously played for Fremantle in WACA district matches and Gordon in Sydney Grade Cricket matches. A left-handed batsman,Simmons represented the Australian national under-19 side at the 2002 Under-19 World Cup,playing seven matches. At the tournament,he scored 155 runs from 115 balls against Kenya's under-19 team,contributing to Australia's total of 6/480 from 50 overs and eventual win by 430 runs.

The Sydney Sixers is an Australian professional franchise men's cricket team,competing in Australia's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition,the Big Bash League (BBL). Along with the Sydney Thunder,the Sixers are the successors of the New South Wales Blues who played in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. The Sixers play at Sydney Cricket Ground at Moore Park in Sydney's eastern suburbs,whilst the Thunder play at the Sydney Showground Stadium in the city's western suburbs. The inaugural coach was Trevor Bayliss,who was replaced in 2015 by current coach Greg Shipperd. The Sixers' inaugural captain was Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin. Both Steve Smith and Moises Henriques have also spent time captaining the team.
Nathan Mitchell Coulter-Nile is an Australian cricketer who has played at One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International level for the Australian national side. Domestically,he is contracted to Western Australia and the Melbourne Stars. From Perth,Western Australia,Coulter-Nile attended Aquinas College,and represented the state under-17 and under-19 teams,later going on to play three youth ODI matches for the Australian national under-19 team. Having held a rookie contract from the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) for several seasons,he made his debut at state level during the 2009–10 season,and has since become a regular selection in Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers' fast bowling attacks. Coulter-Nile made his Twenty20 International debut for the Australian national cricket team in February 2013,and his ODI debut in September 2013.
Jason Paul Behrendorff is an Australian cricketer,currently listed with Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers in Australian domestic cricket. He has played for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.
Timothy John Armstrong is an Australian cricketer and successful mining businessman formerly contracted to the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League,having previously played at Australian domestic level with New South Wales,the Sydney Thunder,and Western Australia. From Dubbo,New South Wales,Armstrong was from a strong cricketing family,representing New South Wales at under-17 and under-19 level,and going on to represent the Australian under-19 cricket team at both Test and One Day International level. This included the 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup,during which Armstrong scored 240 runs to lead Australia's tournament batting averages. Having played several matches as an all-rounder for the New South Wales under-23 side in the Futures League,Armstrong was selected in New South Wales' squad for the 2010–11 KFC Twenty20 Big Bash tournament,and played a single match in the tournament,against Victoria at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
William Giles Bosisto is an Australian cricketer who was contracted to South Australia at domestic level. Bosisto represented Western Australia at under-17 and under-19 level,and debuted for the state's under-23 side in the Futures League in November 2011,at the age of 18. At the 2011–12 Australian Under-19 Championships,he captained Western Australia,and was subsequently selected to captain the Australian under-19 cricket team at the 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. At the competition's conclusion,Bosisto was named "Man of the Tournament",having led the overall batting averages with 276 runs from six matches.
Thomas Ian Francis Triffitt is an Australian cricketer who has played for Tasmania,Western Australia,Hobart Hurricanes and the Perth Scorchers. Triffitt attended the Australian Cricket Academy,and went on to play for the Australian under-19 cricket team,serving as the team's wicket-keeper at the 2010 Under-19 World Cup. He made his debut at state level during the 2010–11 season,and played regularly over the following seasons as a replacement for Tim Paine.
Hilton William Raymond Cartwright is a Zimbabwean born Australian international cricketer who plays for Western Australia and the Melbourne Stars. He is a right-handed all-rounder. Cartwright made his Test debut for the Australian national team in January 2017,having earlier played for Australia A and the National Performance Squad. In January 2017 he won the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year prize awarded by Cricket Australia.
Ashton Charles Agar is an Australian cricketer who plays all forms of the game at international level. Agar plays domestically for Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers. A left-handed spin bowler,he played two Test matches for the Australian national side during the 2013 Ashes series and 5 Test matches in his career. Agar was also a member of the Australian team that won the 2021 T20 World Cup in Dubai and Oman.

Ashton James Turner is an Australian cricketer who debuted for Western Australia during the 2012–13 season,and is also contracted to the Perth Scorchers. From Perth,Turner represented Western Australia at under-15 (schoolboys),under-17 and under-19 level. and captained the under-17 team to their National Championships win. A right-arm off spinner,he toured India with the Australian under-19 team in September and October 2011,taking eight wickets from six matches in a quadrangular tournament involving the Australian,Indian,Sri Lankan,and West Indian under-19 teams. At the 2012 Under-19 World Cup,he was Australia's first-choice spinner,ahead of Victoria's Ashton Agar,and took eleven wickets from six matches,with his best figures 4/28 against Nepal.
Andrew James Tye is an Australian cricketer who plays One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for the Australian national cricket team. At the domestic level he plays for Western Australia and Perth Scorchers. He is most famous for his use of the knuckle ball and wide variation of pace.
Alexander Ian Ross is an Australian cricketer. The son of a cricket coach,Ross started playing domestic cricket for South Australia in 2012,having moved to the state in 2009 with his father. He began to rise to prominence in the 2014–15 season when,after improved form in both first-class and List A cricket,he began playing for the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League. In his first match of BBL|05 he scored 65 runs off 31 balls,making excellent use of the sweep shot and earning the moniker "sweepologist". He currently represents South Australia in first-class and one-day cricket and plays for the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League.
