Miss India or Femina Miss India is a national beauty pageant in India that annually selects representatives to compete in Miss World, one of the Big Four international beauty pageants. It is organised by Femina, a women's magazine published by The Times Group.

The Dogra dynasty of Dogra Rajputs from the Shivalik hills created Jammu and Kashmir through the treaties with the East India Company following the First Anglo-Sikh war. After the First Anglo-Sikh War in 1846, under the terms of the Treaty of Lahore, 1846, the Government of India acquired Kashmir from the Sikh Empire and transferred it to Gulab Singh, recognising him as an independent Maharaja. Thus, Jammu and Kashmir was established as one of the largest princely states in India, receiving a 21-gun salute for its Maharaja in 1921. It was ruled by Gulab Singh and his descendants till 1947.

Sangeeta Sindhi Bahl became the oldest Indian woman to have scaled the world's tallest peak, when she summitted Mount Everest in May 2018, at the age of 53 years. She also became the first woman from the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir to scale the mountain. Bahl is a former Miss India finalist.
Femina Miss India 2019 was the 56th edition of the Femina Miss India beauty pageant. It was held at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Indoor Stadium, Mumbai on June 15, 2019, and was hosted by Karan Johar, Manish Paul and Miss World 2017, Manushi Chhillar. At the end of the event, Anukreethy Vas of Tamil Nadu crowned Suman Rao of Rajasthan as her successor. She represented India at Miss World 2019 in London and placed 2nd Runner Up.
Priya Olivia Serrao is an Australian lawyer, public policy and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe Australia 2019 living in Melbourne. She represented Australia in the Miss Universe 2019 competition.
Manasa Varanasi is an Indian advocate, model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Femina Miss India 2020. She represented India at Miss World 2022 in San Juan, Puerto Rico where she reached the top 13.
Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu is an Indian actress and winner of the Miss Universe 2021 pageant. She had been previously crowned Miss Universe India 2021 and is the third entrant from India to win Miss Universe.
