The Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology (colloquially known as Sarhad University) is a private university in Peshawar, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Established in 2001, [3] it offers a wide range of programs from bachelor to doctoral level.

Contents

It is the only private university in Pakistan to have recently introduced an educational satellite channel SUIT TV. The aim is to facilitate convenient access to education for students in the current era. This initiative by Sarhad University is a significant step toward modernizing the education system and marks a major contribution to educational institutions.

Current strength: more than five thousand students studying in this university and more than twenty five thousand students are enrolled in distance education with Sarhad University.

Overview

Sarhad University is chartered by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and recognized by the Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. It is also recognized by the Higher Education Commission (Pakistan) (HEC) and awarded highest category (W3). [4]

SUIT Distance Education

As per its Charter, the University has a mandate to offer education through distant/virtual means of education. The program was launched in 2002, which is duly approved by the Higher Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is registered with the Higher Education Regulatory Authority, KP and recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.

Through this program, well established educational institutions located across the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, AJK, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad Capital Territory have been registered to operate as Distance Education Centres (DECs) as well as Facilitation Centres for the students enrolled through DE program.

The Governments of Baluchistan and KP have also granted NOCs to launch Distance Education Program in the major cities of Baluchistan and newly merged FATA districts, respectively, which will soon be materialized.

UAE sub campus

Sarhad University established a sub campus in Ras al-Khaimah, UAE in 2017 [5] [6] which is approved by the HEC, Pakistan [7] and licensed by the Government of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. [8]

Government College Peshawar is public sector college located in Zaryab Colony, Faqirabad, Peshawar Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The college offers programs for intermediate level both in Arts and Science groups, which are affiliated with Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar. The college also offers 2 years BA & BSc programs plus 4 years BS programs in various disciplines, which are affiliated with University of Peshawar.

The University of Agriculture (UAD), Dera Ismail Khan is a newly established University, charted by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly in March 2018 and recognized by Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan on May 5, 2021. It was originally a faculty of Agriculture in Gomal University Dera Ismail Khan. The University of Agriculture DI Khan started its academic activities for the Fall-2021. The University of Agriculture is located at the Sadiq Awan Memorial Complex, Near Baahoo Flour Mill, Bhakkar Road, Dera Ismail Khan. Currently, UAD is offering different undergraduate and diploma programs. Keeping in view the purpose of its research orientation, University has started work to develop various research organizations i.e. Date Palm Research Institute Dhakki DIKhan, Temperate Research Institute Wana, Sugarcane Research Institute DIKhan.
