Singapore participated in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea from 19 September to 4 October 2014. [1]

Contents

On 20 September, Lim Wei Wen won a bronze medal in fencing for the men's individual épée competition. [2]

On 21 September, Joseph Schooling won a bronze medal for swimming in the men's 200m butterfly with a time of 1:57.54 minutes. [3]

On 22 September, Tao Li won a silver medal for swimming in the women's 50m butterfly with a time of 26.28 seconds, missing out on a third consecutive Asian Games gold for the 50m butterfly. [4]

Also on 22 September, the men's doubles team for Sepak Takraw were bronze medalists. The Laos team were disqualified for failure to play their semi-final match. Singapore had the best record of the teams that were eliminated from progression to the semi-finals, which was the fifth best record of all teams after the group stage. The team consisted of Mohamad Farhan Amran, Muhammad Hafiz Nor Izam Ja'afar and Eddy Nor Shafiq Sahari. [5] [6]

On 24 September, Schooling won Singapore's first gold medal at the 2014 Games, finishing first at the 100m butterfly final. He was the first male Singaporean swimmer to win a gold medal at the Asian Games, since Ang Peng Siong’s gold medal at the men's 100m freestyle at the 1982 Asiad in New Delhi. [7]

Singaporean public broadcasting conglomerate Mediacorp held the broadcast rights of the 2014 Asian Games in the country. [8]

Virdhawal Vikram Khade is an Indian swimmer. He competed in the men's 50, 100, and 200 meters Freestyle swimming events at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, setting an Indian national record in 100 meters Freestyle. He failed to qualify for the semifinals in his events despite winning his qualification heat. Khade won a bronze medal in the 50 meters butterfly event at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou; it was India's first Asian Games medal in swimming in 24 years. He was conferred with the Arjuna Award in 2011 by the Government of India.

Joseph Isaac Schooling is a Singaporean former professional swimmer who specialised in butterfly, freestyle, and medley events. He was the gold medalist in the 100m butterfly at the 2016 Olympics, achieving Singapore's first ever Olympic gold medal. His winning time of 50.39s broke multiple records at the National, Southeast Asian, Asian, and Olympic levels.

The men's double regu sepak takraw competition at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon was held from 20 September to 22 September at the Bucheon Gymnasium.

Clement Lim is a Singaporean swimmer who competed in the 50m and 100m freestyle, the 50m breaststroke, the 4x100m medley relay, and the 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relay. Lim represented Singapore at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games (YOG).

Teong Tzen Wei is a Singaporean swimmer. He won the silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in the 50 m butterfly, becoming the third Singaporean athlete to win a swimming medal at the Commonwealth Games.
