The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) is professional body in Ghana that includes as sports journalist, analysts, commentators and recognized sports associations in Ghana. The Association holds the SWAG night every year where the best sport Ghanaian sport personalities, clubs and cooperate institutions involved in sports development and promotion are honoured. [1] The association was formed in 1968. [2] [3] In 2011, Asamoah Gyan won the sportsman of the year award, in recognition of his contribution to the Black Stars. [4]

Joachim Awuley Lartey, aka 'Over To You' Joe Lartey, is a retired Ghanaian commentator and journalist. He worked with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation from 1961 to 1973 and 1990, and with Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria between 1978 and 1990. Lartey was ranked amongst the top five African football commentators by Goal, an international association football news website.

Henry Plange Nyemitei was a Ghanaian insurance manager and football administrator. He is a former president and chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak Football Club. During his stewardship, Hearts of Oak competed in the first edition of the Ghana Premier League in 1956 and became the first football club in Ghana to be elevated from amateur status to professional status in 1980. Nyemitei was chairman of the Ghana Football Association from 1966 to 1967 and 1968 to 1971.

Mathew Anim Cudjoe is a Ghanaian footballer who currently plays as a midfielder for Scottish Championship side Dundee United and the Ghana National under-20 team.

Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin is a Ghanaian professional football manager. He is the current coach of the Ghana national U-23 team. Kwabena Yeboah at Apam in the Central Region of Ghana, is a Ghanaian veteran sports journalist, writer and commentator. He is known for hosting sports talk shows, weekly sports reviews and live commentary on GTV. The expression Oluwaa is attributed to Kwabena for his reaction to goals during commentaries.

Joe Aggrey is a Ghanaian veteran journalist, writer and politician who served as the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports from 2001 to 2005. In 1999 he emerged as the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Journalist of the year. From 1985 to 2001, he served as the president of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana.

The SWAG Cup (Sports Writers Association of Ghana Cup) is an annual one-off game, featuring two selected clubs at the end of the season. The cup is called the H.P. Nyemitei Cup in honour of former GFA president Henry Plange Nyemitei and the SIC H.P. Nyemitei Cup for sponsorship reasons. football season.
