Thornhill is a suburban community in the Regional Municipality of York in Ontario, Canada. Thornhill is situated along the northern border of Toronto, centred on Yonge Street, and is also immediately south of the City of Richmond Hill. Once a police village, Thornhill is still a postal designation. It is split between the City of Vaughan and the City of Markham, with Yonge Street forming the municipal boundary. As of 2016, the total population of Thornhill, including both its Vaughan and Markham sections, was 112,719.
The Rouge River is a river in Markham, Pickering, Richmond Hill and Toronto in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada. The river flows from the Oak Ridges Moraine to Lake Ontario at the eastern border of Toronto, and is the location of Rouge Park, the only national park in Canada within a municipality. The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) is a Junior A ice hockey league in Ontario, Canada. It is under the supervision of the Ontario Hockey Association and the Canadian Junior Hockey League. The league dates back to 1954 as the Central Junior B Hockey League. In 1993, the Central Junior B Hockey League was promoted to the Junior A level and renamed the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League. In 2009, the league was dissolved by the Ontario Hockey Association and split into two leagues: the Central Canadian Hockey League and the Ontario Junior A Hockey League. By early 2010, the two leagues merged to reform the Ontario Junior Hockey League.
The Markham Waxers were an Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) Junior "A" ice hockey team based in Markham, Ontario, Canada. The Waxers name is still used by the Markham Waxers minor hockey club with the Eastern AAA Hockey League, a sub league of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association.

Bill Crothers Secondary School is an athletic based High school in the community of Unionville in Markham, Ontario, Canada. It was the newest secondary school in the York Region District School Board for a number of years, since 2008. Named for the former Olympic athlete and Chair of the York Region District School Board, Bill Crothers, the school opened its doors to Grade 9 and 10 students in August 2008. The school is 32 acres (130,000 m2) and cost an estimated $32 million to build. The school was formerly an 18-hole golf course, Unionville Golf Centre, opened in 1961.
