The Sri Lanka women's cricket team toured England in August and September 2023 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. [1] [2] The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced the dates of this series in September 2022, [3] before revising the fixtures in May 2023 after women's cricket in the 2022 Asian Games was confirmed. [4] The ODI series formed part of the 2022–2025 ICC Women's Championship tournament. [5] The T20I series formed part of Sri Lanka's preparation for the Asian Games. [6]
England won the rain-affected first match of the T20I series by 12 runs via the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method. [7] Sri Lanka won the second T20I by 8 wickets, [8] which was their first win over England in the format. [9] Sri Lanka later registered their maiden series victory over England, [10] as they defeated England by 7 wickets in the third and final T20I. [11]
In the first match of the ODI series, England defeated Sri Lanka by 7 wickets. [12] The second ODI saw a delayed start because of rain, and was eventually abandoned after 30.5 overs of play in the first innings with Sri Lanka struggling at 106/9. [13] England won the third ODI by 161 runs to take the series 2–0. [14]
Lauren Bell missed the first two T20I matches due to illness and was ruled out of the rest of the series before the third T20I. [18] Alice Davidson-Richards was called up as her replacement in England's squad for the final two ODI matches. [19]
