The New Zealand men's cricket team toured the United Arab Emirates in August 2023 to play three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. [1] [2] Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) announced the fixtures for the tour in March 2023. [3] The only previous time that New Zealand played against UAE was in a One Day International (ODI) match at the 1996 World Cup. [4]

New Zealand won the first T20I by 19 runs, [5] after which United Arab Emirates beat New Zealand in the second T20I. [6] It was United Arab Emirates' first international win over New Zealand and also New Zealand's first defeat against an associate team. [7] New Zealand won the last match of the series to take the series 2–1. [8]

Blair Tickner and Ben Lister were added to New Zealand's squad after the withdrawal of Henry Shipley and Lockie Ferguson due to injury and other commitments, respectively. [11] On 14 August 2023, Blair Tickner opted to skip the series due to family reasons and was replaced by Jacob Duffy. [12]

The 2016 Asia Cup Qualifier was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament held in Bangladesh from 19 to 22 February 2016. The event served as a qualifier for the 2016 Asia Cup, which was held in the same country later in the month. The tournament was played as a round-robin, with the participants being the four Asian associate members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with T20I status. The United Arab Emirates won all three of its matches, joining Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka in the main event.

The Irish cricket team toured the United Arab Emirates to play the United Arab Emirates in February 2016. The tour consisted of two Twenty20 International (T20Is) matches and a 20-over tour match. The matches were in preparation for the 2016 ICC World Twenty20. The two-match series was drawn, with Ireland winning the first match and the United Arab Emirates winning the second. The second match of the series was the 500th T20I match since the format was introduced in 2005.

The India cricket team toured New Zealand in January and February 2019 to play five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODI fixtures were part of both teams' preparation for the 2019 Cricket World Cup, with India winning the series 4–1. The T20I matches took place on the same day as the corresponding women's fixtures at the same venues. New Zealand won the T20I series 2–1, and ended India's run of ten T20I series without defeat. It was the first time that India had lost a T20I bilateral series of three or more matches.

The Australian cricket team toured the United Arab Emirates from September to October 2018 to play two Tests and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against Pakistan. Ahead of the Test series, there was a four-day practice match in Dubai.

The New Zealand cricket team toured the United Arab Emirates between October and December 2018 to play three Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20Is) matches against Pakistan. Originally, the tour was scheduled to have three Tests, five ODIs and one T20I match.

The India cricket team toured New Zealand from January to March 2020 to play two Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test series formed part of the inaugural 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship. New Zealand Cricket confirmed the fixtures for the tour in June 2019.

The Sri Lanka men's cricket team toured New Zealand in March and April 2023 to play two Test, three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test matches formed part of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship and the ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.

The 2021 Summer T20 Bash was a series of Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket matches played in the United Arab Emirates in October 2021 between Ireland, Namibia, Papua New Guinea, Scotland and the United Arab Emirates. The UAE played one match against Namibia and three matches against Ireland, Scotland played one match against Namibia and one against Papua New Guinea, and Papua New Guinea and Namibia played one match against each other. The matches were used as preparation for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Muhammad Waseem is a Pakistani-born cricketer who plays for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team.

Adithya Ashok is a New Zealand cricketer. He made his Twenty20 debut on 17 December 2021, for Auckland in the 2021–22 Men's Super Smash. Prior to his Twenty20 debut, he was named in New Zealand's squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his List A debut on 1 January 2022, for Auckland in the 2021–22 Ford Trophy.

The Hong Kong women's cricket team toured the United Arab Emirates in April 2022 to play a four-match bilateral Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) series. The venue for the series was the Malek Cricket Ground in Ajman. The UAE won all of the matches, to win the series 4–0, taking their unbeaten run in WT20I cricket to fourteen matches.

The New Zealand cricket team toured India in January and February 2023 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. In December 2022, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the fixtures.

The Bangladesh cricket team toured the United Arab Emirates in September 2022 to play two Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Bangladesh team was in Dubai to complete a training camp that had been interrupted by rain in Dhaka. The series was part of both teams' preparations for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

The New Zealand national cricket team toured England and Wales in August and September 2023 to play four One Day International (ODI) and four Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against England. The ODI matches formed part of both teams' preparations for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

The Afghanistan men's cricket team toured the United Arab Emirates in February 2023 to play three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The dates for the tour were confirmed in January 2023. In November 2022, the Afghanistan Cricket Board signed a five-year agreement with the Emirates Cricket Board to play their home matches in the UAE. This was the first annual series between the two sides to be arranged as part of the agreement.

The 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was a cricket tournament that formed part of the qualification process for the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup. The Asia Qualifier was hosted by Malaysia in August and September 2023. The two teams to reach the final of the qualifier tournament progressed to the global qualifier.

The Afghanistan men's cricket team toured the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in December 2023 and January 2024 to play three Twenty20 International (T20I) and two 50-over matches. This was Afghanistan second tour of the UAE this year, with Afghanistan winning the T20I series 2–1 in February 2023. The T20I series formed part of Afghanistan's preparation for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. The dates for the tour were confirmed in December 2023.
