Program Transformasi Bas Berhenti-Henti (Stage Bus Service Transformation, SBST), also formally known by its branding BAS.MY or its former name myBAS is a scheme by the Malaysia Ministry of Transport, coordinated by Land Public Transport Agency for Peninsular Malaysia and Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) in Sabah and Sarawak.
Introduced in 2015 under the brand myBAS, it is a funding scheme to encourage existing stage bus operators to improve their services via fundings from the Federal Government. This include revamping of routes, new buses and standardized new liveries, and also implementation of modern payment methods including cashless methods. In 2025, it has been implemented in nearly all state capitals of Malaysia.
The Stage Bus Service Transformation was first mentioned in the 2015 budget tabling by the then-Prime Minister Najib Razak in October 2014, aiming for gradual implementation in Kangar (Perlis), Seremban (Negeri Sembilan), Ipoh (Perak) and Kuala Terengganu (Terengganu). [1]
myBAS started operation in Kangar on August 1, 2015, followed by Seremban on November 15, 2015 and Ipoh on April 1, 2015. [2] It was later operated in Kuala Terengganu from March 1, 2018. [3]
The scheme was later expanded to other cities, with Johor Bahru gets its own myBAS service on March 31, 2022. Melaka gets its own SBST service in May 1, 2024. [4] These was also the first services that implements contactless card payment via VISA and Mastercard cards as well as My50 bus pass for Malaysians.
In 2024, the Transport Minister Anthony Loke has announced that all SBST buses will be revamped again and rebranded into new BAS.MY branding, changing the livery from the old blue-white livery (or yellow-green-white for Johor Bahru) to new pink liveries, and also implementation of more cashless methods of fare payment including QR payments, as well as implementation of new unlimited pass (My50) and free passes for students, elderly and disabled person. Additionally, the scheme will be expanded to other cities and towns in Malaysia from 2025.
The new BAS.MY scheme was expanded to Kuching, Sarawak on March 5, 2025, marking the first expansion of the scheme to East Malaysia for the first time. [5] Additionally in Kedah, Alor Setar gets its own dedicated BAS.MY service on June 1, 2025, along with Sungai Petani which becomes the first non-capital town that has dedicated BAS.MY service. [6] Kota Bharu, Kelantan received new BAS.MY service from August 1, 2025, taking over the existing Mutiara Rentas Desa routes by local operator Konsortium E-Mutiara. Kota Kinabalu, Sabah has started its trial run from October 10, 2025. The scheme will be expanded to Kuantan, Pahang on December 2025 replacing Rapid Kuantan bus service. [7]
