The Steel City Sparks was an American women's soccer team. The team was a member of the Women's Premier Soccer League, the third tier of women's soccer in the United States and Canada.
The Sparks formed in 2003 to develop soccer for women in the Pittsburgh area. Their first coach was Erik Ingram. In 2005, the team left the league, and the franchise was terminated. [1]
The Sparks played their home games at the Ellis Athletic Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. [2]
The Sparks squad comprised of former WUSA, W-League, and international players, [3] including Annie Lowry, Katie Barnes, Chrissie Abbott and Lisa Stoia. [4]

Butler Area Senior High School is a coeducational public senior high school in Butler, Pennsylvania, United States, serving grades 9–12. It is the senior high school for the Butler Area School District. The school was founded in 1908, moved to a larger building on an adjacent site in 1917, and moved again to its current site in 1960.
Shannon Leigh Boxx Spearman is an American retired soccer player and former member of the United States women's national soccer team, playing the defensive midfielder position. She last played club soccer for the Chicago Red Stars in the American National Women's Soccer League. She won gold medals with the United States at the 2004 Athens Olympics, 2008 Beijing Olympics, and 2012 London Olympics. She has also finished third place or better with the US at the 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups. She was a finalist for the 2005 FIFA World Player of the Year award, and won an NCAA Women's Soccer Championship with Notre Dame in 1995. Shannon Boxx announced her retirement from international and club soccer after winning the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup. She played her last game on October 21, 2015, when the USWNT tied with Brazil as part of their victory tour.
Tyler Palko is a former American football quarterback. Palko was the starting quarterback at the University of Pittsburgh from 2004 to 2006. The left-handed thrower was not selected in the 2007 NFL Draft, but was signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent. He also played for the Arizona Cardinals, Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL), Pittsburgh Steelers, and Kansas City Chiefs.
Melissa Palma Julie Tancredi is a Canadian retired soccer forward who played for the Canada women's national soccer team. 3 time Olympian, 2 time Bronze Medalist. She won an Olympic bronze medal as a participating member of Canada's national team at the 2012 Olympics when Canada defeated France 1–0 in the bronze medal match on August 9, 2012. Tancredi was a participating member when Canada won Bronze defeating Brazil 2–1 in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Tancredi's nickname is "Tanc".
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish women's soccer team represents the University of Notre Dame in National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I women's soccer. Roccaro previously played for the New York Fury in the WPSL Elite.
