Tahir Jalaluddin (8 December 1869, Ampek Angkek, Agam, West Sumatra – 26 October 1956) was a famous Muslim ulama in Southeast Asia.

He became the editor for Al-Imam publication which was published in Singapore between 1906 and 1908.

Tahir published two major treatises on astronomy: Natijatul'Umur (published 1357 H./ 1936 M.) and Kitab Jadual Pati Kiraan (published in 1362 H./ 1941 M.) - logarithms for determining the direction of kiblat and times for prayer.

His son Hamdan bin Sheikh Tahir was a Penang state governor (Yang di-Pertua Negeri) from 1989–2002.

He was previously Member of National Assembly of Pakistan (MNA) and Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) (1990–1993). He was also the Central Vice-President of the Pakistan Muslim League.

One man is his own son, Abdul Karim Amrullah, and another is his grandson, Hamka. His grandfather was Tuanku Nan Tuo, one of the prime movers of the Padri in West Sumatra.

Shah Saeed Ahmed Raipuri was a Pakistani Muslim scholar as well as the spiritual heir of Khanqah-e-Rahimia Raipur (India) and a contemporary authority of Shah Waliullah's thought. He was among prominent disciples of Maulana Shah Ilyas Kandhalvi, founder of Tablighi Jamaat and Sheikh-ul-Hadith Maulana Muhammad Zakariya. Rising above practical politics, on the basis of the thought of Shah Waliullah, Sheikh-ul-Hind Maulana Mahmood-ul-Hasan, Shah Abdul Qadir Raipuri, Maulana Ubaidullah Sindhi and Maulana Husain Ahmad Madani, he established JTI in 1967. Tahir Efendi Gjakova, also known as Tahir Efendi Boshnjaku or The Great Efendi, was an Albanian religious leader of the Yakova region in Kosovo, as well as one of the most known Albanian bejtexhinj. He lived and served as a clergyman in Yakova. The best known work from him, Emni Vehbije was published with Arabic alphabet in Istanbul in 1835. A reprint of it with Latin alphabet was done in 1907 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

<i>Al-Munir</i>

Al-Munir was an Islamic magazine, written in Arabic-Malay, published in Padang from 1911 until 1915. Inaugurated by the initiative of Abdullah Ahmad in early April 1911, Al-Munir was listed as the first Islamic mass media in Indonesia. The magazine was often associated with Al-Imam magazine published under the direction of Sheikh Tahir Jalaluddin in Singapore during 1906-1909. In addition to Abdullah Ahmad, several religious figures such as Abdul Karim Amrullah, Muhammad Thaib Umar and Sutan Muhammad Salim were recorded in the ranks of the editorial board.
