Tan Cheng Han SC is a Singaporean lawyer and legal academic. Until 2012,he was the dean of the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law,where he taught contract law and company Law and directed the EW Barker Centre for Law &Business. From 2019 to 2022,he was the dean of the City University of Hong Kong School of Law and the chair professor of commercial law. He was also a consultant at TSMP Law Corporation. In August 2012,he was appointed the inaugural chairman of Singapore's new Media Literacy Council. [1]
Tan graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 1987 and then obtained his Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge in 1990. He also practices as an advocate specialising in complicated commercial disputes and is a member of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre's Regional Panel of Arbitrators. Tan was appointed Senior Counsel in 2004 at the age of 39,and together with fellow Andrew Phang,became the first academics to be so appointed. [2] Prior to joining NUS in 1996,Tan was a partner in Drew &Napier's litigation department.
Tan's current public appointments include being Chairman of the Singapore Media Literacy Council,Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Move-On and Filming Orders,Advisor to the Singapore Tae Kwon-do Federation,a Commissioner of the Competition Commission of Singapore,a member of the Appeal Advisory Panel to the Singapore Minister for Finance,a member of the Military Court of Appeal in Singapore and a member of the Governing Board of the International Association of Law Schools. In 2004,Tan was one of three Singaporeans who were chosen out of a pool of 8,000 candidates worldwide to be part of The Forum of Young Global Leaders,a forum which was created by Klaus Schwab,executive chairman of the World Economic Forum. [4] In 2005,Tan was also named by the Straits Times as one of "50 young Singaporeans to watch". [5]
In August 2006,Tan was appointed to the Subordinate Courts' Bench as a new specialist judge to preside over the Informatics case. [6] He was also awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) at Singapore's 41st National Day celebrations. [6] [7]

Philip Antony Jeyaretnam is a Singaporean judge,lawyer and author who has been serving as a Judge of the High Court of Singapore since 1 November 2021,having been first appointed to the Bench as a Judicial Commissioner on 4 January 2021. He has served as President of the Singapore International Commercial Court since 2 January 2023. Prior to his appointment to the Bench,he served as ASEAN chief executive officer and global vice-chair at Dentons. He also served as president of the Law Society of Singapore between 2004 and 2007. Jeyaretnam was also one of the youngest lawyers to be appointed Senior Counsel in 2003 at the age of 38.
The National University of Singapore Faculty of Law is Singapore's oldest law school. NUS Law was initially established in 1956 as the Department of Law in the University of Malaya. After its establishment,NUS Law was Singapore's only law school for half a century,until the subsequent establishment of the SMU School of Law in 2007 and the SUSS School of Law in 2017. NUS Law is currently located at the NUS Bukit Timah Campus. The current dean of NUS Law is Andrew Simester. Internationally,NUS Law has been ranked twelfth by the QS World University Rankings by Subject in 2023 and ninth by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject in 2023.

Andrew Ang is a Singaporean former judge of the Supreme Court. He obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Singapore in 1971 and a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School in 1973. He lectured for a few years at the University of Singapore,and then worked as a lawyer at Messrs Lee &Lee for 30 years. He was appointed Judicial Commissioner in May 2004 and Judge in May 2005. After a decade on the Bench,he retired on 25 February 2014. In 2000,he was conferred the Pingat Bakti Masyarakat.
