The Textile Institute is a professional body for those engaged in clothing, footwear, and textile's whose headquarters are at 8th Floor St James's Buildings, 79 Oxford Street, Manchester, M1 6FQ, UK. The institute was founded in 1910 and incorporated in England by a Royal Charter granted in 1925 and is a registered charity. The Textile Institute works to promote professionalism in textiles and its related industries worldwide.
The World President and Textile Institute Council are elected and then confirmed at the mandated Annual General Meeting. On 3rd June 2023, the position was unopposed:

Under the authority of the TI Council, a number of Medals and Awards are conferred upon individuals and organisations in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the textile industries and/or the work of the Textile Institute itself.
The attainment of a professional qualification is the clearest way of demonstrating possession of a sound knowledge of the industry and a high standard of professional competence. TI professional qualifications are acknowledged by many national governments, as well as by employers establishing that the holder has proved their ability to practice.

The Textile Institute accredit a wide range of courses globally within all areas of clothing, footwear and textiles. Students who graduate from these courses can apply for their professional qualifications after a shorter period of work experience and in some cases directly on graduation.
The Textile Institute's brand is the international sign of excellence. Through this scheme the TI can award ‘Approved Status’ to providers of in-house training, short courses, on-line delivery and programmes not otherwise eligible via the accreditation route.
Its primary academic journal is the Journal of The Textile Institute, which was established in 1910 published on behalf of The Textile Institute by Taylor & Francis, and the present editor-in-chief is Dr William Oxenham Hon FTI CText ATI Abel C Lineberger Professor & Associate Dean, North Carolina State University, USA. Textile Progress is a monographic series which, since 1969, has provided critical examinations of the origins and application of developments in the international fibre, textile and apparel industry, and its products. textiles is the international membership magazine of The Textile Institute. The magazine covers all aspects of textiles, news and in-depth articles encompassing all areas of the complete supply chain, from fibre production through knit, weave and nonwovens,to fashion, architecture, footwear, medical and automotive products, providing a business and production perspective. International in both readership and outlook, textiles provides a broad industry perspective on issues faces the textile sector, as well as facilitating learning and research. textiles is available in both print and digital formats and is part of The Textile Institute membership package or by subscription.
Textile Terms and Definitions (TT&D), published by The Textile Institute since 1954, is generally regarded as the established, most authoritative and comprehensive English-language reference manual of textile terminology.
The institute works with a number of book publishing partners to communicate essential information about high quality research in all areas of textiles including science, engineering, economics, management, marketing and design.
A full calendar of events takes place from local section events, a prestigious lunch held at the House of Lords and a major world conference (TIWC) which takes place every 18–24 months at various locations around the world.

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) is a professional institution for management based in the United Kingdom. It was founded as the British Institute of Management (BIM) in 1947 or 1948, merged with the Institution of Industrial Managers (IIM) in 1992 to form the Institute of Management (IM), and gained a royal charter, and its present name, in 2002.
Reutlingen University is a university of applied sciences, involved in education and research. It is located in Reutlingen in the southern German state of Baden-Württemberg. Enrollment stands at about 5,500 students, a quarter of whom are international and exchange students. West London College, legally known as the Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College is a large further and higher education college in West London, England, formed in 2002 by the merger between Ealing Tertiary College and Hammersmith and West London College. It is based across four campuses located in Park Royal, Ealing, Hammersmith and Southall districts; the main campus of the college is situated on the north side of the busy A4 dual-carriageway, between Hammersmith and Earls Court. Arthur James Turner, CBE, FTI was a British scientist who worked in the field of textile technology. He was the first director of the Technological Laboratory created by the Indian Central Cotton Committee (ICCC) in Bombay in 1924. He was awarded the Warner Memorial Medal by the Textile Institute in 1931 in recognition of outstanding work in textile science and technology and was appointed to the CBE in 1950.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is an association for human resource management professionals. Its headquarters are in Wimbledon, London, England. The organisation was founded in 1913 - it is the world's oldest association in its field and has over 160,000 members internationally working across private, public and voluntary sectors. Peter Cheese was announced in June 2012 as CIPD's new CEO from July 2012.
Leonard Albert Wiseman OBE BSc ARI.C CText FTI was an organic chemist, scientific intelligence analyst and scientific administrator. Following his early work as a research chemist and in intelligence, he became, successively Deputy Director of the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment, Director of the British Rayon Research Association, succeeding John Wilson, Deputy Director of the Cotton, Silk and Man-made Fibres Research Association when the BRRA merged with the British Cotton Industry Research Association, becoming Director in 1969 until retiring in 1980. He also served for some years as Chairman of Council of the Textile Institute.
The Australian Textile Workers' Union (ATWU) was an Australian trade union which existed from 1919 to 1987. The ATWU represented Australian workers employed in the manufacture of textiles, including the spinning, weaving, dyeing and finishing of all types of fibres. Later, the union also represented workers employed in manufacturing felt hatting.
