Thereva is a genus of flies from the family Therevidae commonly known as stiletto flies.
Anthrax is a genus of bombyliid flies, commonly known as "bee-flies" due to their resemblance to bees. Most are dull black flies, and are usually small to medium in size, 4–20 millimetres (0.2–0.8 in), and many species have striking wing patterns.
Villa is a genus of flies belonging to the bee-fly family (Bombyliidae). They range in size from 5 to 17 millimetres, and have typically rounded heads. The males of some species have a brilliant mat of silvery patagial scales. About 270 Villa species are found on all continents except Antarctica. They can be distinguished from similar genera (Hemipenthes) by their wing venation.
Cheilosia is a genus of hoverfly. Most Cheilosia are black or largely un-coloured, lacking the bright colours and patterns of many hoverfly species. It is one of the most species diverse genera of hoverflies. The biology of many species is little understood, but where known, the larvae of Cheilosia species feed in the stems of plants or in fungi.
Myopa is a genus of flies from the family Conopidae.
Physocephala is a genus of flies from the family Conopidae.
Chlorops is a genus of fly in the family Chloropidae.
Empis is a genus of dance fly, in the fly family Empididae. It contains the following subgenera and species:
Hilara is a genus of dance flies, in the fly family Empididae.
Rhamphomyia is a genus of dance flies, in the fly family Empididae.
The Ulidiinae are a subfamily of flies in the family Ulidiidae. Like the Otitinae, most species are herbivorous or saprophagous. Most species share with the Tephritidae an unusual elongated projection of the anal cell in the wing, but can be differentiated by the smoothly curving subcostal vein. Most are dull gray to shiny brown or black flies with vein R1 setulose or, in a few cases, bare.
Cordilura is a genus of dung flies in the family Scathophagidae. There are more than 90 described species in Cordilura.
