Times is the debut studio album by English singer-songwriter SG Lewis. It was released on 19 February 2021 by Virgin EMI and PMR Records. It features guest appearances from Rhye, Lucky Daye, Nile Rodgers, Frances, Robyn, Channel Tres and Lastlings.
SG Lewis announced Times through his social media accounts on 27 October 2020. [2] With the announcement, he said:
This album is an ode to the present moment, and the finite chances we have to celebrate it. It's an exploration of escapism and euphoria, and the memories attached to those experiences. [3]
Five singles from Times were released prior to the release of the album; "Chemicals", [4] "Impact", [5] "Feed the Fire", [6] "Time" [7] and "One More". [8]
Times is a disco album [9] [10] with dance-pop, [11] house, [12] chillwave, electropop and funk influences. [13]

At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised score out of 100 to critic ratings from publications, the album received an average score of 75 based on 6 reviews, indicating a "generally favourable" response. [15]
Alexis Petridis of The Guardian gave Times a rating of 4 out of 5 stars, and wrote that "Lewis is really skilled at producing disco-infused pop-house" and that his "talent lies in [adding] subtle touches." [12] Writing for NME , Ben Jolley gave the same rating, describing the album as "an incredibly cohesive collection of slide-across-the-kitchen-floor dance-pop bangers that encourage you to hold on to the good times." [17] Dani Blum of Pitchfork praised the album as a "pristine" one made of "frictionless bangers", but noted that the songs are "so controlled that they never come close to catharsis." [18]

Cross is the debut studio album by French electronic music duo Justice, first released on 11 June 2007 through Ed Banger Records and Because Music. Recorded during 2005 and 2006 in Paris, Cross was composed as an "opera-disco" album. It features many samples and "microsamples" throughout, with about 400 albums being used as sampled material. These include samples from Prince, Britney Spears and Madonna. The song "D.A.N.C.E." is a tribute to Michael Jackson. French musician Mehdi Pinson appears on "DVNO", and vocalist Uffie appears on "Tthhee Ppaarrttyy". The album was supported by the singles "Waters of Nazareth", "D.A.N.C.E.", "DVNO", "Phantom Pt. II", and "Tthhee Ppaarrttyy". A controversial music video was also released for "Stress".
"Let Them Know" is a song by English singer Mabel. It was released by Polydor Records on 18 June 2021 as the lead single from her second studio album About Last Night... (2022). The song was written by Mabel, Raye, MNEK, and its producer SG Lewis. It was a top 40 hit in Mabel's home country of the United Kingdom as well as five additional European countries.
"Ugh!" is a song by English band the 1975 from their second studio album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It (2016). The song was written by Matty Healy, George Daniel, Adam Hann and Ross MacDonald. Mike Crossey handled the production alongside Daniel and Healy. The song was released on 10 December 2015 by Dirty Hit and Polydor Records as the second single from the album. The band's obsession with syncopation and rhythm drove the song's creation, while Healy explained the lyrics are about coming down from cocaine, drug-fuelled conversations and social interactions.
"Disconnect" is a song by English electronic music group Clean Bandit and Welsh singer and songwriter Marina Diamandis, under the stage name Marina and the Diamonds. It was composed by Diamandis and Jack Patterson, with the song's production handled by Luke Patterson, Jack Patterson, and Mark Ralph. It was released to digital retailers on 23 June 2017. The song became Diamandis' first single since her 2015 album Froot, and her last as Marina and the Diamonds; she currently uses the mononym Marina on further releases.
"Disco Tits" is a song by Swedish singer-songwriter Tove Lo. It was released on 7 September 2017 as the lead single from Lo's third studio album, Blue Lips, and it was her first release after the short film Fire Fade. The song was released on Spotify a week prior to the song's official release, but was removed soon after.
Samuel George Lewis is an English singer-songwriter, musician and record producer. He is mostly known for collaborating with many artists from Tove Lo, Dua Lipa, Mabel, Victoria Monét, Lucky Daye, Jessie Ware, JP Cooper, Raye and Ray BLK to Bruno Major, Frances, Clairo and LANY.
Future Nostalgia is the second studio album by English and Albanian singer Dua Lipa. It was released on 27 March 2020 by Warner Records. Lipa enlisted writers and producers such as Jeff Bhasker, Ian Kirkpatrick, Stuart Price, the Monsters & Strangerz, and Koz to create a "nostalgic" pop and disco record with influences from dance-pop and electronic music, inspired by the music that Lipa enjoyed during her childhood.
"Hallucinate" is a song by English-Albanian singer Dua Lipa from her second studio album Future Nostalgia (2020). The song was written by Lipa alongside Frances and SG Lewis. The latter of the three also handled the production with Stuart Price. The song was released through Warner Records for digital download and streaming on 10 July 2020 as the album's fourth single. It is a disco-house song with dance-pop, electro swing, psychedelic and synth-pop elements. Set to EDM rhythms and retro beats, the lyrics describe how crazy love can make one feel.
"Save a Kiss" is the fifth single by English singer-songwriter Jessie Ware from her fourth studio album, What's Your Pleasure? It was released 7 May 2020. It was written by Ware, James Ford, Shungudzo Kuyimbia and Danny Parker. Ford also produced the song.
Disco is the fifteenth studio album by Australian singer Kylie Minogue. BMG Rights Management and Minogue's company Darenote released it on 6 November 2020 in both digital and physical formats. After finishing her campaign with her previous album Golden (2018), Minogue was inspired by a Studio 54-esque section on her Golden Tour to create a disco-themed album. Early sessions began in 2019-2020, but were temporarily halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and widespread lockdowns. As a result, Minogue continued to work on the album remotely from London, using GarageBand and Logic Pro for the first time.
Poster Girl is the third studio album by Swedish singer Zara Larsson. It was released internationally on 5 March 2021 by TEN Music Group and Epic Records. Recording sessions for the album began in 2018 and continued during the Covid-19 pandemic. A deluxe edition of the album subtitled Summer Edition was released on May 21, 2021 and contains six additional songs.
Wonder is the fourth studio album by Canadian singer Shawn Mendes. It was released by Island Records on December 4, 2020. Its production was handled by Mendes, Frank Dukes, Kid Harpoon and Scott Harris, among others. It is his first album since his 2018 album Shawn Mendes (2018). The album was preceded by Shawn Mendes: In Wonder, a 2020 Netflix documentary capturing Mendes' off-stage life.
"Real Groove" is a song by Australian singer Kylie Minogue from her fifteenth studio album, Disco (2020). The song was written by Minogue, Teemu Brunila, Nico Stadi and Alida Garpestad Peck, with a sense of optimism for days ahead during the COVID-19 pandemic. Brunila and Stadi also handled the production. It is a disco-pop song with house and R&B elements and features vocoders, a funk bass and post-disco synths. The lyrics see Minogue attempting to win an ex back. A new version, a duet with English-Albanian singer Dua Lipa entitled "Studio 2054 remix", was released on 31 December 2020 as the album's third single. The remix added William Bowerman as a producer with additional instrumentation and Lipa incorporating layered vocals and new lyrics.
Querencia is the debut studio album by South Korean singer Chungha. It was released on February 15, 2021, under MNH Entertainment and 88rising. Originally set for a January 4 release, the album was delayed to February 15 after Chungha tested positive for COVID-19 on December 7, 2020, to focus on her recovery. It is the singer's first full-length album since her debut in 2017. The concept of the album lies in its title, "Querencia" which is a metaphysical concept in Spanish referring to a place where "one can be one's true self".
Better Mistakes is the second studio album by American singer Bebe Rexha, released on May 7, 2021, by Warner Records. Production of the album took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the singer deciding to explore new sounds after watching TV shows such as Pose and RuPaul's Drag Race, while also listening to dance songs by Madonna, Whitney Houston and Cece Peniston.
