The Orthoptera Species File [2] lists:
Bandwings, or band-winged grasshoppers, are the subfamily Oedipodinae of grasshoppers classified under the family Acrididae. They have a worldwide distribution and were originally elevated to full family status as the Oedipodidae. Many species primarily inhabit xeric weedy fields, and some are considered to be important locusts:
Schistocerca is a genus of grasshoppers, commonly called bird grasshoppers, many of which swarm as locusts. The best known species is probably the desert locust and trans-Atlantic flight may explain the biogeography of some locust species.
The Trigonopterygoidea are an insect superfamily in the Orthoptera: Caelifera. Sometimes described as leaf grasshoppers, American species in the Xyronotidae have also been called razor-backed bush-hoppers.
Oxya is a genus of grasshoppers found in Africa and Asia.
Gesonula is a genus of grasshoppers in the subfamily Oxyinae. Species can be found in India through southeast Asia to northeast Australia.
Dociostaurus is a genus of grasshoppers in the family Acrididae, subfamily Gomphocerinae and typical of the tribe Dociostaurini. Species are found in Africa, southern Europe and Asia, and includes the economically important Moroccan locust.
Diabolocatantops is a genus of grasshoppers in the subfamily Catantopinae and tribe Catantopini. Species can be found in Africa, India, China and Indo-China.
Zonocerus is a genus of grasshoppers (Caelifera) in the family Pyrgomorphidae and the tribe Phymateini. The two species are found in Africa, with Z. elegans found in central, eastern and southern regions, including Madagascar, and Z. variegatus found in western regions. Both species are significant agricultural pests, especially for African smallholder farmers. Both adults and nymphs have relatively bright, aposematic colours, and adults typically are about 3–5 cm (1.2–2.0 in) long.
Caedicia is a genus of bush crickets or katydids in the subfamily Phaneropterinae. Species can be found Australasia, with records from Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, and Australia.
Tristria is a genus of grasshoppers in the subfamily Tropidopolinae with species found in Africa and tropical Asia.
Phlaeoba is a genus of grasshoppers in the family Acrididae and subfamily Acridinae. The recorded distribution of species includes: India, China, Indo-China and Malesia.
Stenocatantops is a genus of grasshoppers in the family Acrididae and subfamily Catantopinae. The recorded distribution of species includes: India, China, Indo-China and Malesia through to Australia.
Leptacris is a genus of grasshoppers in the family Acrididae, subfamily Hemiacridinae; species have been recorded from Africa and tropical Asia.
Apalacris is a genus of grasshoppers in the family Acrididae and subfamily Coptacrinae. The recorded distribution of species includes: India, Indo-China and Malesia.
Truxalis is a genus of grasshoppers in the family Acrididae, subfamily Acridinae and tribe Truxalini. Species can be found in: Africa, the Iberian peninsula, Asia minor through to Indo-China.
Gelastorhinus is a genus of grasshoppers in the subfamily Gomphocerinae. Species have been recorded from tropical Africa and Asia.
Tagasta is a genus of grasshoppers in the family Pyrgomorphidae, subfamily Pyrgomorphinae and tribe Tagastini. Species can be found around the Himalayan mountains, southern China, Indo-China and Malesia. It was described in 1905.
Ducetia is the type genus of the Ducetiini: a tribe of bush crickets. The genus was erected by Carl Stål and species have a widespread distribution in Africa, Asia and Australia.
