Tropidophorus baviensis, also known commonly as the Bavi water skink or Bavay's keeled skink, is a species of lizard in the subfamily Sphenomorphinae of the family Scincidae. The species is native to Southeast Asia.
T. baviensis is found in northern Vietnam [1] [2] and in adjacent northeastern Laos (Xiangkhouang Province). [1] Records from Thailand are considered erroneous. [1]
The type locality (to which the specific name baviensis refers) is Mt. Ba Vi, Ha Tay Province, northern Vietnam. [2]
The preferred natural habitats of T. baviensis are forest and freshwater wetlands, at altitudes of 400–1,500 m (1,300–4,900 ft). [1]
T. baviensis is viviparous. [2]
