Unleashed is an upcoming memoir of the former British prime minister Boris Johnson, set for release in October 2024. The book will feature Johnson giving his account of his time in 10 Downing Street, covering everything from Brexit to Partygate. [1]

Johnson revealed that HarperCollins would be publishing the book, saying "I am honoured that HarperCollins is publishing my personal account of the huge realignment that took place in UK politics in the last 15 years—and what may lie ahead. So stand by for my thoughts on Britain’s future to explode over the publishing world like a much-shaken bottle of champagne." [2]

Summary

The book charts Johnson's tenure as prime minister from 2019 to 2022. Throughout the book, he will give his account on his time in 10 Downing Street, discussing things such as Brexit, the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and Partygate. [3] [4] Additionally, Johnson has revealed he will also discuss UK politics "in the last 15 years".

HarperCollins described the book as an honest, unrestrained and deeply revealing book by the politician who has dominated our times, "written in his inimitable style and shattering the mould of the modern prime ministerial memoir". [5] [6]

As a result, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the UK would go into a full lockdown, with new restrictions on gathering socially with people from different households. As the pandemic continued, the rules for socialising evolved: on 16 September, the government introduced a new "rule of six", whereby groups of more than six people were banned from meeting, and, the following month, Johnson unveiled new "three-tier" regulations, with London being placed in the medium "tier 1" restrictions. Lockdown rules continued in England until 19 July 2021, at which point almost all of them were lifted.
