History

A post office called Visey operated in the 1890s. [2] The community was named for a local woman, Vicey Clevinger. [3]

The Russell Fork continues to flow through the town of Haysi, Virginia, the Breaks Interstate Park, and the town of Elkhorn City, Kentucky, in Pike County, to the community of Millard, Kentucky where it flows into the Levisa Fork which, together with the Tug Fork, form the Big Sandy River.

Buchanan, originally named Mouth of Bear, is an unincorporated community located in Lawrence County, Kentucky, United States at the mouth of Bear Creek where it joins the Big Sandy River, five miles downstream from the mouth of Blaine Creek.
