Victoria North is a proposed new town in Greater Manchester, England. The development is located north of Manchester Victoria station.

History

The initial proposal was pulled in 2012 due to lack of funding. [1] The development was previously known as Manchester's Northern Gateway. [2] It is costing 4 billion pounds. [3]

In September 2025, was named as one of 12 locations by the Labour governments New Towns Taskforce. [4] [5] Manchester City Council has described the project as one of the UK's largest and most ambitious regeneration projects which is also the biggest in the history of Manchester. [6] The development will contain 15,000 new homes. [7] The site, which will contain seven neighbourhoods is located between Manchester city centre and Collyhurst. [8] The inner city suburb of Ancoats is being regenerated. [1] New green spaces will be established along the banks of the River Irk. [9] Among the housing, new schools, new medical facilities are being built between a joint venture with Manchester city council Far East Consortium (FEC). [10] Former industrial areas will be transformed into housing. [11] The first construction began at Victoria Riverside in the area of Angel Meadow. [12] A skyscraper at Red Bank was the first building to begin constriction. [13]

Victoria North will be connected by a new Metrolink tram stop. [14] This is part of the extension of Metrolink which will connect to Stockport. [15]
