The West Indies cricket team toured Sri Lanka in October 2024 to play the Sri Lanka cricket team. [1] The tour consisted of three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. [2] [3] In November 2023, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced its international calendar for 2024 and confirmed the bilateral series. [4]
West Indies won the first T20I by five wickets, with Brandon King and Evin Lewis, both scoring match winning half-centuries. [5] The hosts won the second T20I by 73 runs, with Pathum Nissanka's 54 and Dunith Wellalage's 3/9. [6] Sri Lanka won the third and final T20I by nine wickets, with Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera, both scoring unbeaten half-centuries of 68 and 55 respectively, [7] to secure their first ever T20I series victory over West Indies. Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer and Akeal Hosein withdrew from the series citing personal reasons. [14] Seventeen-year-old Jewel Andrew was named in the ODI squad. [13]

Angelo Davis Mathews is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer and a former captain of the national cricket team in all formats. Mathews plays all formats for Sri Lanka. Mathews was a member of the team that won the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 and was part of the team that made the finals of 2011 Cricket World Cup, 2009 ICC World Twenty20 and 2012 ICC World Twenty20. Mathews and Lasith Malinga hold the record for the highest ninth wicket partnership in ODI cricket.
Mestiyage Don Danishka Gunathilaka, commonly known as Danushka Gunathilaka, is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who plays as a top-order batter in all forms of the game. He has also been occasionally sidelined due to disciplinary issues.
Mathurage Don Kusal Janith Perera, is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer currently plays limited overs cricket and a former ODI cricket captain. He was a key member of the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 winning team.
Kariyawasam Indipalage Charith Asalanka is a Sri Lankan professional cricketer who currently serves as the captain of the national team in white-ball formats of T20I and ODI. He plays the limited overs formats of the game for the national team and is the 14th T20I captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team. An aggressive left-handed batsman and trusted batter in the number five middle order batting position, who bowls part time handy off spin. On pitches that favour spin, he has the potential to take useful wickets and contribute significantly as an all-rounder. Asalanka made his international debut for Sri Lanka in June 2021.
The West Indies cricket team toured Sri Lanka in October/November 2015 to play two Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. Pathum Nissanka Silva is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who plays for Sri Lanka in all three formats of the game. On 9 February 2024, Nissanka scored an ODI double hundred, becoming the first Sri Lankan to achieve the feat.

The ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. On 4 June 2021, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) named a 24-man squad to tour England. The tour was initially thrown into doubt the next day, when 38 players signed a statement refusing to sign tour contracts with SLC. After an agreement was reached with the players, SLC confirmed that the tour would go ahead as planned.

In July 2024, Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed the fixtures for the tour. This was Gautam Gambhir's first assignment as head coach and Suryakumar Yadav's first series as full-time T20I captain of India. India won the T20I series whitewashing Sri Lanka by 3-0. However, Sri Lanka won the ODI series defeating India by 2-0. It was their first bilateral ODI-series win in 27 years against India since 1997.

In November 2023, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced its international calendar for 2024 and confirmed the bilateral series. In January 2024, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed the fixtures for the tour.
