He plays as a right-handed middle-order batter and is an occasional right-arm off break bowler. He represents the Indian cricket team and plays for Mumbai in domestic first-class cricket. Suryakumar was an integral member of the Indian team that won the 2024 T20 World Cup. He plays for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Pinnaduwage Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva, better known as Wanindu Hasaranga, is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer and former T20I captain served as 13th captain in Sri Lanka Cricket. He resigned as the captain on 11th of July 2024. The reason for the resignation suggests due to his poor captaincy and performance in the T20 World Cup 2024. He plays for the Sri Lanka cricket team in white ball cricket as a Bowling All rounder. He is a Right-arm Googly bowler. Even though googly is a variation of a traditional Leg Spinner, Wanindu use googlies all the time rarely he bowls a Leg break, His main stock delivery is googly and he has a additional variation of Leg spin. Hasaranga made his international debut for Sri Lanka in July 2017. His elder brother, Chaturanga de Silva, has also represented the national team. Hasaranga made history when he took the first ever hat-trick for Sri Lanka in a T20 World Cup during the 2021 edition of the tournament, and being the first Sri Lankan on an ODI debut to take a hat-trick. He is regarded as one of the best bowlers in the T20 format

The India cricket team toured Sri Lanka in July 2021 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. All the matches took place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Originally, the tour was scheduled to take place in June 2020, but was moved back to August 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, before being postponed. On 9 July 2021, following an outbreak of COVID-19 cases in the Sri Lankan camp, the series was postponed from 13 to 18 July.

The India cricket team toured England in July 2022 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against the England cricket team. In September 2021, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that India would also play a one-off Test match, after the fifth Test in 2021 was cancelled. The West Indies women's cricket team toured Sri Lanka in June 2024 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against Sri Lanka. The ODI series formed part of the 2022–2025 ICC Women's Championship. The T20I series formed part of both teams' preparation ahead of the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup tournament, and Sri Lanka's preparation for the 2024 Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup. In May 2024, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed the fixtures for the tour.
