Wings Neck

Wings Neck is a peninsula that juts out into Buzzards Bay on the south side of the Cape Cod Canal, in Bourne, Massachusetts, USA.

The southwestern tip of the neck is the site of the Wing's Neck Lighthouse, which operated from 1889 to 1945, and is now a private residence. [1] [2]

Wings Neck Light United States historic place

The Wing's Neck Light is a historic lighthouse in the Pocasset village of Bourne, Massachusetts. It is located on Wing's Neck Road at the end of Wing's Neck, a peninsula between Pocasset Harbor and the Hog Island Channel, which provides access to the Cape Cod Canal. The first lighthouse was built in the site in 1849; it was a stone keeper's house with a wood frame tower above, and was destroyed by fire in 1878.

Short S.27

The Short S.27 and its derivative, the Short Improved S.27, were a series of early British aircraft built by Short Brothers. They were used by the Admiralty and Naval Wing of the Royal Flying Corps for training the Royal Navy's first pilots as well as for early naval aviation experiments. An Improved S.27 was used by C.R. Samson to make the first successful take-off from a moving ship on 9 May 1912.

Its mouth is located at an elevation of 4,524 feet / 1,379 meters where it subsides into the Playas Valley.
