The 13th Hollywood Music in Media Awards recognized the best in music in film, TV, video games, commercials, and trailers of 2022. The ceremony was held on November 16, 2022, at The Avalon in Hollywood, becoming the first in-person ceremony in two years after the virtual ceremonies of 2020 and 2021. [1]
The nominations were announced on November 3, 2022; new categories for songs and scores for trailers and streaming media were introduced. [2] [3] [4]

Hildur Ingveldardóttir Guðnadóttir is an Icelandic musician and composer. A classically trained cellist, she has played and recorded with the bands Pan Sonic, Throbbing Gristle, Múm, and Stórsveit Nix Noltes, and has toured with Animal Collective and Sunn O))). She has received various accolades, including an Academy Award, two Grammy Awards, and a Primetime Emmy Award.
Laura Anne Karpman is an American composer, whose work has included music for film, television, video games, theater, and the concert hall. She has won five Emmy Awards for her work. Karpman was trained at the Juilliard School, where she played jazz by day and honed her skills scatting in bars at night.
The Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA) is an award organization honoring original music in all forms visual media including film, TV, video games, trailers, commercial advertisements, documentaries, music videos and special programs. The HMMA was the first to include Outstanding Music Supervision as featured award categories. Women Talking (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the score album composed by Hildur Guðnadóttir for the 2022 film of the same name, directed by Sarah Polley, based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Miriam Toews. The film stars Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley, Judith Ivey, Ben Whishaw, and Frances McDormand, who also serves as the producer. Hildur described the score as one of the optimistic music, she composed for a horrific subject which is relevant in the current period, referring to sexual assault against women. The Hollywood Independent Music Awards (HIMA) is an awards organization that honors independent artists, composers, songwriters, record labels, and studio recording professionals for their creative contributions to independent music. The independent music categories were once a part of the HMMAs, but they evolved and expanded into a mainstream awards event, with major film music categories, nominees, and winners including Billie Eilish, Rihanna, Olivia Rodrigo, Ludwig Göransson, Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, and Austin Butler. Hosting a separate awards show for independent artists was decided by founder Brent Harvey after an increased engagement from independent artists internationally. The first inaugural HIMA ceremony was held on August 17, 2023 at the Avalon Hollywood in Hollywood, California.
