The 14th Hollywood Music in Media Awards recognized the best in music in film, TV, video games, commercials, and trailers of 2023. The ceremony was held on November 15, 2023, at The Avalon in Hollywood. [1] [2] [3]

Contents

The nominations were announced on November 2, 2023. [4] Greta Gerwig's fantasy comedy film Barbie led the nominations with five, followed by Disney's live-action adaptation remake of The Little Mermaid and musical fantasy film Wonka with four each. [5] [6] [7] American composer and lyricist Marc Shaiman was honored with the Career Achievement Award. [8]

The category "Original Song – Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film" was revived after being discontinued in 2019, while the categories "Music Design – Trailer" and "Song – Onscreen Performance (TV Show/Limited Series)" were introduced.

The Hollywood Independent Music Awards (HIMA) is an awards organization that honors independent artists, composers, songwriters, record labels, and studio recording professionals for their creative contributions to independent music. The independent music categories were once a part of the HMMAs, but they evolved and expanded into a mainstream awards event, with major film music categories, nominees, and winners including Billie Eilish, Rihanna, Olivia Rodrigo, Ludwig Göransson, Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, and Austin Butler. Hosting a separate awards show for independent artists was decided by founder Brent Harvey after an increased engagement from independent artists internationally. The first inaugural HIMA ceremony was held on August 17, 2023 at the Avalon Hollywood in Hollywood, California.
