Mumbai Samachar is the oldest continuously published newspaper in Asia. Established in 1822 by Fardunjee Marzban, it is published in Gujarati and English.
The history of Mumbai can be traced back to 600 BC, with evidence of the first known settlement of the Harrappan civilization discovered in the region.
AIR FM Gold is an FM radio channel in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai, India. It is run by the All India Radio, a government owned enterprise, a division of Prasar Bharati. In Mumbai, it features Hindi songs, and English songs along with hourly news in English and Hindi. It operates on 100.1 in Mumbai and on 100.1 Megahertz in Delhi. It was started on 15 August 2001 by the then Minister of Information & Broadcasting.

The head office is located in Civil Lines in Mumbai, and the newspaper is printed from Jalandhar, Ambala, and Jammu.

The Media in Gujarati language started with publication of Bombay Samachar in 1822. Initially the newspapers published business news and they were owned by Parsi people based in Bombay. Later Gujarati newspapers started published from other parts of Gujarat. Several periodicals devoted to social reforms were published in the second half of the 19th century. After arrival of Mahatma Gandhi, the Indian independence movement peaked and it resulted in proliferation of Gujarati media. Following independence, the media was chiefly focused on political news. After bifurcation of Bombay state, the area of service changed. Later there was an increase in readership due to growth of literacy and the media houses expanded its readership by publishing more editions. Later these media houses ventured into digital media also. The radio and television media expanded after 1990.
Adi Pherozeshah Marzban (1914–1987) was an Indian Gujarati Parsi playwright, actor, director, broadcaster known for his efforts in modernizing Parsi theatre. He was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of India in 1964 and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1970.
Jamshed Nowroji Vazifdar, popularly known as Jimmy, was a Parsi physician from India and a former secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society at its Maharashtra Chapter. Born in Mumbai and graduated in medicine in 1946, he is known to have contributed to the blood transfusion movement in India. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri in 1973. He died in 2000.
Ajit Merchant was an Indian music composer and director.
Kanti Bhatt was an Indian author, journalist and columnist who is estimated to have written more than 45,000 columns in several Gujarati publications. Bhatt became a journalist in 1966 and served as the subeditor of Vyapar in 1967. He later became a freelance journalist and wrote columns for several Gujarati publications including Chitralekha, Mumbai Samachar, Janshakti, Sandesh, Yuva Darshan and Jansatta. He worked in Kenya for some time in 1977. He was an investigative journalist and also wrote daily columns titled Aaspaas and Chetnani Kshane in Divya Bhaskar.
Harkisan Laldas Mehta (1928–1998) was a Gujarati author and journalist from India. He was the editor of a weekly, Chitralekha. He wrote several novels.
Shayda Award is an annual award given to a young Gujarati ghazal poet. It was founded by the INT Aditya Birla Centre for Performing Arts & Research. The award is named after Gujarati ghazal poet Harji Lavji Damani, known by his pen name Shayda. A prize of ₹ 10000 is awarded to recognize and promote Gujarati ghazal poets.
Zaverilal Dalpatram Mehta was an Indian photographer and the recipient of the Padma Sri civilian award in 2018 for his contribution to the fields of literature and educational journalism.

Gordhandas Bhagwandas Narottamdas was an Indian physician and social worker from Bombay, India. He founded the Sir Harkisandas Narottamdas Hospital in 1925 and served patients until his death. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1965.
