The Chile national football team, nicknamed La Roja, represents Chile in men's international football competitions and is controlled by the Federación de Fútbol de Chile which was established in 1895. Chile has appeared in nine World Cup tournaments and were hosts of the 1962 FIFA World Cup where they finished in third place, the highest position the country has ever achieved in the World Cup.
Francisco Ramón de Vicuña Larraín was a Chilean political figure. He served twice as acting President of Chile in 1829. Francisco Vicuña was of Basque descent.
The 1975 edition of the Copa América football tournament was played between 17 July and 28 October. For the first time there was no fixed venue, and all matches were played throughout the year in each country. In addition, the tournament changed its name from South American Championship to Copa América. For the first time, all ten CONMEBOL countries participated, with defending champions Uruguay receiving a bye into the semi-finals and the rest starting in the group stage.

O'Higgins Fútbol Club, also known as O'Higgins de Rancagua, is a Chilean professional football club based in Rancagua, that currently plays in the Campeonato Nacional. The club's home stadium is Estadio El Teniente, opened in 1945 and renovated for the 2015 Copa América, which was hosted by Chile.

La Mandrágora was a Chilean Surrealist group "officially founded" on 12 July 1938 by Braulio Arenas (1913-1988), Teófilo Cid and Enrique Gómez Correa. The group had met in Talca and first started exchanging in 1932. They published an eponymous review and an anthology of poetry, El A, G, C de la Mandrágora, which included works by all founders except Teófilo Cid. Politically, the group supported the Popular Front.
Historia is a peer-reviewed academic journal specialising in the history of the Americas and Chile. It was established in 1961 and its first director was Jaime Eyzaguirre. The first editorial committee included Ricardo Krebs, Gonzalo Vial, Gabriel Guarda, Armando de Ramón, Julio González and Carlos Oviedo. Javier González acted as secretary. Apart from original articles, the journal includes a bibliography of any history publication about Chile or written by a Chilean in the period that precedes the journal deem relevant.
Carlos José Ramón Echazarreta Iñiguez was the 27th and 30th Mayor of the commune of Pichilemu, office which he held between May 1963 and May 1967, and through the early months of the Augusto Pinochet military regime, between September and November 1973. In 1967 he was succeeded by Carlos Rojas Pavez, and in 1973 he was succeeded by Mario Urrutia Carrasco. Echazarreta also was a regidor of Pichilemu for several terms between 1959 and 1973.
