Il Postino: The Postman is a 1994 comedy-drama film co-written by and starring Massimo Troisi and directed by English filmmaker Michael Radford. Based on the 1985 novel Ardiente paciencia by Antonio Skármeta, itself adapted from a 1983 film written and directed by Skármeta, the film tells a fictional story in which the real life Chilean poet Pablo Neruda forms a friendship with a simple Procida postman (Troisi) who learns to love poetry. The cast includes Troisi, Philippe Noiret, and Maria Grazia Cucinotta. The screenplay was adapted by Radford, Troisi, Anna Pavignano, Furio Scarpelli, and Giacomo Scarpelli.
Sanhattan, a portmanteau of Santiago and Manhattan, is the popular ironic sobriquet given to Santiago's upscale financial district in Chile's capital. It is located to the northeast of the metropolis, in the western end of the Las Condes commune, nestled between the Mapocho River and Américo Vespucio avenue, encompassing the El Bosque Norte and El Golf barrios. A more narrow definition places it between the intersection of Andrés Bello and Vitacura avenues down to Nueva Los Leones avenue. The central street in Sanhattan is Avenida Apoquindo.
Antonio Skármeta is a Chilean writer, scriptwriter and director descending from Croatian immigrants from the Adriatic island of Brač, Dalmatia. He was awarded Chile's National Literature Prize in 2014.

In Chile, the National Prize for Literature(Premio Nacional de Literatura) was created by Law No. 7,368 during the presidency of Juan Antonio Ríos on 8 November 1942. It consists of a lump-sum monetary prize and a lifetime monthly stipend. It was originally awarded every year until the amendments introduced by Law No. 17,595 of 1972, when it became biennial. It's regarded as one of the National Prizes in their homeland.

Premio Iberoamericano Planeta-Casa de América de Narrativa was a Latin American Spanish language literary award. The winner received US$200,000 making it one of the richest literary prizes in the world. Beyond the large endowment, the award was also notable for the large number of books which were judged; in 2010 over 600 books entered the award, far surpassing the approximately 120 books which entered the Man Booker Prize, for example.

The Dancer and the Thief is a 2009 drama film directed by Fernando Trueba. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by author Antonio Skármeta. It was selected as the Spanish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.

Roberto Lecaros Venegas was a Chilean jazz musician and composer of music for film, theater, and popular music. He played wind, string, and keyboard instruments, including the violin, double bass, trumpet, cornet, flute, piano and accordion. He was one of the patriarchs of the Lecaros family of musicians.
