Fernando García is a Chilean composer. Active since 1956 he has done orchestral music, chamber music, etc. He studied with Juan Orrego-Salas and Gustavo Becerra-Schmidt, among others. His style is strongly influenced by serialism and aleatoric procedures. He also played a role in the beginnings of electroacoustic music in Chile, after a trip he made to France in the early 1950s where he heard musique concrete.

Victor Tevah was a Chilean conductor of Jewish-Greek ancestry. In 1961, he acted as director to the Argentine Philharmonic ; from 1966–1979, he was director to the Casals Festival and Orchestra, Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra and the Puerto Rico Conservatory; Tevah led Chile's Symphony Orchestra as director and conductor from 1947 until 1985.

Beatriz Bilbao is a Venezuelan composer. She was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and studied piano with Judith James and Gerty Haas, composition with Modesta Bor, and conducting with Alberto Grau and Gonzalo Castellanos in Venezuela. She continued her studies at Indiana University Music School with Frederick Fox, Juan Orrego Salas and John Eaton and at the New England Conservatory of Music and the Cluj Napoca Conservatory in Romania.

Luis La Puerta de Mendoza was a 19th-century Peruvian politician. He was born in Cusco. He was briefly Prime Minister of Peru in January 1868. He served as the first vice president from 1876 to 1879 and was briefly president for five days in 1879 during the War of the Pacific.

The National Prize for Musical Arts was created in Chile in 1992 under Law 19169 as one of the replacements of the National Prize of Art. It is granted "to the person who has distinguished himself by his achievements in the respective area of the arts". It is part of the National Prize of Chile.

Elena Waiss was a Chilean pianist. She was the founder and director of the Escuela Moderna de Música y Danza (EMMD) and author of texts for musical initiation such as Mi amigo el piano. She also served as a harpsichordist and pianist for the Chilean Symphony Orchestra.

Sylvia Soublette Asmussen was a Chilean composer, singer, choirmaster and educator. She won the 1964 Elizabeth Sprague Coolidge Gold Medal, the 1997 Critics Award from the Valparaíso Art Critics Circle, the 1998 music medal from the National Music Council, and the Pablo Neruda Order of Artistic and Cultural Merit, which was awarded posthumously. She published and performed under the name Sylvia Soublette.
